    Smoking Eco Boat

    Sigh....

    1. Bright and early over the weekend, I ran my boat with a 11t Trinity and it smoked after about 2 mins. But I half expected this so its ok.

    2. Quickly went back home. fixed a brand new Nosram 19t and went back to Punggol Park. Boat ran slower but after about 11 mins decided to bring it back. Opened hatch and it was smoking as well!!! I have the water cooling coil - previously had the gundert blue version and this same motor did not smoke. But that is quite fused to the 11t for now.

Any way I can add another say 14-17t motor and mitigate the risk of smoking it out? Or is it a case of just running for a shorter length of time? I am already using one of the smallest props from Graupner and driveline is smooth.

    Cheers

Somehow those 540 don't like boats. A standard cheap 540 does better.

hmmmm.... I think I will buy myself some of those cheaper motors then. Any idea :
      1. where to buy the cheap can 540 550s?
      2. do you think my car esc rated at 11t will hold for the 550?

      Cheers

oh - one more thing - I saw that the Traxxas Titan costs about 30SGD. Is this a good alternative? It is rated at 14volts.... will it work with my 6 pack? Any other 550 types that I can get in SG? just some simple running on 6 packs - but wont mind having something faster rather than slower (without significant risk of blowing up).

long long time ago when bishan park just started, fayloh and my brother and myself where there playing Rc boats,

running even 6 cells on a stock 540 motor, the boat came back smoking...

reason? no air cooling !!! and no water heat sink.
i'm a rc sotong. And i know nuts about it.

RC Boating - Beginner's first outing

            hello Chingchong,

robbie here, remember we met 2 weeks back at punggol park
in the afternoon. I was playing my twin propeller red hydroboat
and encountering some problems with one motor. have since returned
            it to supplier.

I went down this weekend again and tried out the new boat
that i bought that day. too bad did not meet u again.

the nitro boat guys were there and theirs really were very powerful
and superfast. I stuck to my corner and played the EP speedboat
I bought. quite fast indeed and powerful motors also. but batteries
i brought along did not last very long. anyway was quite fun for a
"beginner". will be going down this weekend either sat aft or sun as usual.
hope to see u again. cheers.

am attaching a few pics for your viewing. 3 pics of the boat and 1
of the r/c bismarck which i still have not tried playing on water yet.
very fragile and not willing to try it there, prefer private pool.

this time round will brg along my smaller tyco outboard motor boat for
            a spin as well.
