    Traxxas E-revo

Hi, guys.. I'm a newbie. I saw Traxxas E-revo in the RC mag. Does anyone know where this beauty can be found in Singapore? Any further guides for a newbie like me before i jump into this hobby?

U can't get it locally. Like ANX said, u can get a 2nd hand one in RCTECH. I think someone was try to sell 1 last few months.

There is 2 version. Brushed or Brushless 2.4ghz. They only come RTR. The brushed version cost around us$400. Shipping here u'll have to pay GST%.

Althought its 1/10 its really big. Same size as a 1/8 truggy. There is a 1/16 version. Its fun to run but the shocks is too soft.

Personally, i would go for the brushed system or a 2nd hand roller. Run abit and drop in a better brushless system.

Paiseh but I have to advise to get the brushless version straight bcoz the stock brushed motors will overheat (under race condition) and burn out in no time due to the weather here in singapore. I don't own an E-revo but have read many times that the stock brushed motors are greatly lacking in power. Get the brushless version straight and u will save up in the long run. MMM is fully covered with one year warrenty by CC. Running on 4S will see more reliability in MMM systems.

I would agree the brushed motor lacks power.

The brushless version cost us$250 more. The motor is 2200kv which i feel is abit too high.

Traxxas may be building great chassis but i don't think they are getting the electronics right.

4S lipo on 2200kv with the correct gearing will be alrite. Right now rc car brushless escs are still at its infancy. Running at max cell count usually will guarantee a higher chance of esc failure. And btw, higher voltage system runs cooler, more efficient but the difference can be very little depending on the setup. Driving style affects the temp more than a higher voltage system. brushless will cost $250 more it is definitely more worth it than the stock brushed system. The 2nd hand market price for a MMM is quite high. Nobody wants a high powered 2nd hand brushed esc anymore.

In my opinion, out of the box Traxxas has already overgear them even on the brushed setup. They usually set the gearing for 8.4v

Unless the guy has some experience and try around abit, problem will arise.

Since the thread starter is a newbie, he will need to get a charger and 1 or 2 4s pack. I would assume he need to fork out around S$1500 for some fun.

Hi, Guys.. Thank you for the valuable advices.

Paiseh leh.. No big issue here Guys.. I still need to do my research here. I do agree with skyblueblue for me to start with a 2nd hand baby then progress from there onwards. If i like it, i might invest more onto better babies.. Which means more spending.. I also agree with little giant about the long term run. Invest a bit more for a better results. Which again if i like it, i would buy another baby. Literally spend again. LOL Hmmmm... Anyway both require money.

Once again thank you for the advices skyblueblue and littlegiant. Let me weigh the options.

Importantly, i need to know whether this hobby is a long term or a short lift for me. I also notice that mostly you guys have at least 2 babies in your precious care after reading most of the threads here. LOL..

Maybe i look see - look see some more.. I kind of like buggy/truggy. hehehe
