    Good transmitters ??? Pls suggest.......

    Hi all,
I'm a newbie and just started the RC hobby in Helis.
I know this has been asked dozens and thousands of times but unfortunately, while looking through all the threads i haven't been able to find what i'm looking for.

I'm looking for a tx that can support mainly helis both collective and fixed pitch but perhaps planes as well in future.
Someone recommended to me using 6 channels but after looking at all the threads it seems as if in the long run 9 channels such as the JR 9X might be better.
My Budget is around $500-$700 including receivers and crystals(not sure what is this but everyone seems to talk about it.... Still looking for information on it)
    Does anyone have any suggestions?

$500 - $700 should be able to get you Eclipse7 complete set...nothing lesser than the Eclipse7 in my point of view.
If you can spend a bit more, get the JR9X ver2 since you have intention to fly helis.

Also, when u are getting a complete TX set, you should probably be certain of what heli u intend to fly, so that you can customise the servos with your TX set to suit your needs. If I'm not wrong, Rotor hobby will be able to allow u to customise the servos at a minimal top up from u.

Just to check since i'm a newbie....

Assuming i were to buy the JR 9XII, it should not really matter which heli you're flying right since you've already bought the 5 servos ES-539 & Nes8700G together with the main transmitter and receiver.

that's the case for 30/50 size nitro helis. For micro electric helis,u need mini servos such as the hs-55.For large nitros(60 and up),the servos dont have enogh torque.U will need more powerful(and $$$)servos such as digital servos or fut. S9202

Ahh.....Soo.... you learn something new everyday....
          Thanks for the information......

So in this case for the ES-539 it will only support 30/50 helis but how about the receiver? Will it need to be of a different type? Other than the frequency which let's assume to be 72MHz, any other considerations for a heli?

Let say for example that any receiver will work with any servos or gyros for that matter?

Actually looking to build my own Heli from scratch......

receiver depends on what you're flying. Those standard type receiver that comes with Tx sets are too big for micro electric but ok with all nitros

                $560 - Futaba 9CHP Super TX + TX batt + module + charger..
All u need your entire life!
Unless u strike $D and wanan go upgrade to Cyber14...

Most of us are on 9CHP more than the 9X..
But it's a personal thing, some perfer the 9x stick feel over the 9c stick feel..
Both are priced almost the same, with the JR slightly higher..
Get the 9X v2 if u wanna go for helis mainly..

If heli is your main focus, JR to me is a better choice. JR has 7 points pitch and throttle curve, 9 Chp 5 points. The stick feels much smoother than Futaba.

Secondly, the Tx module on the Futaba gets hot, JR doesn't.

Most people own Futaba 9 Chp because it was released into the market 2 or 3 years before the JR.

Realiability, both equally good. Looks wise JR is the one.

BTW, I have both TX, my 9 CHP is now used exclusively for airplane.

                  Cheers

                  James

I'll also like to add a point that you may want to consider where you are flying ur heli or plane. For example, Bishan funfly, there are a lot of people using the 9CHP, so you can get more support from people there, and if ever you need to link the tx for flight assistance, it would be easier.

Also, sometimes you want to try other people's planes/heli, but you are in different modes(1 or 2). So, if you are using the same TX, just need to transfer the values.

                    Just my 2 cents.

Not to left out that the 9CHP casing will oxidised

If u ask me.. I would say choose the TX that is graphical or at least dot matrix display. Take a look at 9CHP and JR 9X. Both has a graph showing your curve setting. It is more easy and more understanding tweaking the curve value that those displaying 9segment display (Example... Hitec Eclips?)

If u ask me to choose again, I might go for JR 9X because of the look and the feel. But Right now I already have 9CHP, I will not change to JR 9X. I think if I want to upgrade, I go for higher channels and more function (Futaba 14MZ?).

Owning a Futaba 14MZ is wonderful, but buying the receiver might cause you a bomb.

Too high tech and yet can't get cheap subsitute to go with it.
