how old is ur son? RC kite is not easy to fly.

There are few shops selling.... u can try RCE or JetHobby....

Full set will cost $100+++ to $200+++, depends on what electronics & which transmitter u want to package with it...

It usually does not comes in a full set but u can buy all the things u need in the shop....
After so many years, I am still a beginner

            Hi,

From ur message I think u are a total beginner urself to this RC thing. If u are really a total beginner and ur son is not very old yet, then what u really need is to look for a community of kite flyers, spend some time with them and start from there. There is no point looking for cheap and good kite and crash it and then at a lost of what to do next. The other thing is to start with the Simulator such as FMS and a USB controller on the PC first. Let ur son try the simulator until he (and probably you too) is proficient before investing in the kite. For all u know, he may loose interest after he tried the Simulator. You can do the Simulator and visit the community of kite flyers for a couple of weeks before deciding on the investment on whatever kite.

Flying a RC kite is not as easy as those trainer plane, eg. beaver....

It will take a while, plus numerous crashes before you can get a hang of it. It can be very frustrating to fly, in the beginning, as the learning curve is a bit steep. You have to factor in the repairs portion, too, that you need to do after each major crash. People may say that repairs of kite are easier. But not so, if you're a novice and don't know what to do when it gets damaged.

In my humble opinion, learning to fly a trainer plane and keeping it in the air, is alot easier than a kite. Although there may be people out there who will say otherwise.

And if you still insist on getting a kite, just make sure he don't learn to fly it during windy condition.

YES, and to add to that... if u start off from Kite.. moving to trainer plane later is not exactly an easy thing to do.. bcos the angle learning is quite different... for example.
                1. No rudder control on Kite, so when move to plane, quite difficult to put the mind on the rudder.
                2. On kite, when in trouble, cut power and pull elevator. On the plane, when in trouble, full trottle and stop pulling elevator..
                3. emphasis on Kite is elevon aka aileron... emphasis on Plane... Tail (elevator and rudder) is primary and aileron (for turning) is secondary.

Those comparisons are just my own opinions and as I am very very new to this hobby myself.. i appreciate any comments from seniors here.
