    V-Shape Rotor Head for FEDA

I was always wondering what the V-Shape head below was for which is being sold at Flying-Hobby. Unfortunately, I can't understand the very poor english translation on the site.

Found this thread in RCGroups and it seems to be a bell-hiller mixing arm to improve control response. Here is the link to the thread.

And here is a link to a DIY mod using paper clips. Can't understand chinese but the step by step procedure using the pictures shown is pretty straightforward. Here is the link to the chinese website.

Sorry guys for posting this...seems to be old news as I see same handles present in this forum have already posted on the RCGoup thread since last year . Guess it was just bumped up to the top with new posts in RCGroups. Goes to show how really new I am into this hobby .

I recalled that Ace tried this mod before with paper clips.
From what they are posting its supposed to reduce the delay in response from the time when we give stick input to the time the heli actually reacts.

Yikes! $22 is steep... The head is like 5 bucks. Two servo arms ard 2 bucks and linkage set for the feda a couple of dollars more.
From the photos looks very doable. Haha Joe, loyn or Doug looks like another DIY project for you guys!

Mike are you sure those are wooden blades at Jet Hobby? I suspect those are the foam blades that I got from that hobby shop. From the mounting holes you'll see some wood but the whole thing is actually plastic covered foam. If it costs $16.90 than its confirm they are foam blades.

seems the $22 is more like to pay for the packaging than what's inside. from what i read from a heli aerodynamics site, bell hiller arms were created to increase stability and so that the servos won't need to work so hard to control the blades...not too sure about the exact principals though...

Just came across this recently as well.. its a mod to make ur heli more stable as it removes jerky stick movements. It does so by delaying ur input to the head.. thus the stability.. but u pay the price of having slower response time... good for hovering.. might not help for other things..

Ha..... what is what????? faster or slower???? My heli is already super stable, anything more will become a rock in the sky improvement in response is what I am looking for, but if not mistaken this mod should improve response right???? not too sure Anybody that has try it please advise. Anyway the look of it does not worth the $$$$ may try to make one with an old blade holder...see how as not much time before flying off for my business trip....

Actually I think its the other way round... There is now a direct input from the swash to the main blades so its faster but at the same time more twitchy too. Remember I told you about the diff between the hornet and the zoom 400 head design?

From what I understand from looking at the mechanics, changes in swash movement are also fed directly to the main blades instead of entirely relying on the paddles thus making cyclic inputs to the main blades much faster. If you just rely on the paddles to move the main blades, the main blades would always react 90 degrees later than the paddles reaction to swash changes.

To the experts, please correct me if I am wrong as that is how I understand how it functions.

i think the mod will help greatly when flying in the wind......

U're only having direct input 50% of the time with the Hiller head on a stock Feda. If we link the head directly to the swash without the see-saw setup as in the mod, then it's a lot of Bell ratio....

I'm actually also keen on doing this mod..... figuring how to bend the clips accurately.
