    Feather Rx

    Hi ye electronics gurus!

Need a bit of help here. I've got a Feather Rx and I feel it is a bit too easily exposed and undressed. The cover can just slip off revealing the electronics.

I'm thinking of applying a layer of insulator (liquid type) to make it more water resistant. However, there is a place with a screw (above the black UM55HT thingy) and it seems to me that it's supposed to adjust something. What it's supposed to do, I dunno.

My question is, do I have to leave it exposed for future adjustment or can I just apply the insulator over it? Once applied cannot be removed....

    Thanks for reading.

    Cheers!

Base on my understanding, those "screw component" are potentialmeter to adjust the frequency or rather mfr use to tune it.

I would suggest using a heat shrink or those battery shrink sleeve. They works well and no permanent damage

Just a side note, I always heard ppl having a lot of glitches w this rx. Its pretty well know for very short range application. Good luck

Hahahahahaha! Short range nvm. It's not gonna see air. I only need a range of <30m for my car. Hence the waterproofing part.

It's cover ia actually a stiff heatshrink. All I need is to heat it and it will shrink.

      Thanks!

        a word of warning,

do not use any air receiver for nitro cars application.
i have seen nitro cars smash at full speed into a wall because the guy was using a air rx.

its seems like land rx can take more abuse and vibration then air rx.
i'm a rc sotong. And i know nuts about it.

So I guess the screw should remain in a 'fixed' position. Will fix it permanently then....

          Cheers!

            Whoops! Point taken.

but hor, i have used land rx for air application with success

my ezstar is using land 3ch RX... with PCM guard.. whahahaha

                Hi all

The square thing that can adjust is called variable inductor. Together with capacitor and resistor, it form a RCL (Resistor, Capacitor and Inductor) and to create a Oscillator. I not going to explain the whole story so to make it short, it is manufacturing tuned to your frequency band. (like 40MHz or 72MHz).

Normally u do not need to retune it. U may only touch it if u want to modify ONLY.

If u going to spray some electronics insulator covering, make sure it is non die-electric (Or in other word, do not exhibit capacitive effect). Remember that the frequency for your electronics is in high frequency so a bit of capacitive effect may cause your TX to lost its reception or go haywire.

U can cover then with heat strinking material BUT MAKE SURE it is NOT A BLACK or carbon based material. Those carbon based material will cause it to go haywire also if u do not ground the carbon based.

Normally Air RX is not suitable for Ground base usage is could be the reflection or bouncing signal will cause it to go haywire. Those Ground based RX may have some filtering circuit to filter it off.
In the air, there is no (Or very rare) situation whereby u get signal bouncing each other.

                    Feather Rx

How is your Feather Rx perform?
Mine no range from first day.

So far everybody that own one have the same problem ! Same for me too..... So try to avoid it if possiblem other wise you will end up with a Rx that is only good for Line-Control plane.....

Wah.....looks like I might have to run along with the car then!

OK, I'll try it and give you all a briefing!

Cheers and thank you all for the valuable feedback.
