That is one sexy boat Frank ! Really like those blended lifting strakes on the twin hulls too
For suitable hardware, take a look at the Offshore Electrics site. They have an assembled 3/16 flex shaft kit with strut and offset rudder made by Octura for US$75... or a very bling bling drive kit by Solinger for US$105. Tough Racing is another vendor of top quality hardware.
Both will ship the goods to you within 2 weeks by air for around (or less than) US$10.
Keep us updated on your build BTW, what motor and esc are you planning to use?
What is a blended lifting strakes?
I was looking at the hardware from offshore also.
Do you think I should get an inline rudder or offset rudder?
Do you have the link for Tough Racing?
I'll be using a Hacker B50-13L and 70amps Himodel esc from my current volvo.
Still a beginner in boats
Need advise from all you experts
The front-on view of your cat shows outer edges that curve downwards (I believe this feature runs the full length of the hull). These "strakes" will lift your hull out of the water quickly and get you on plane. The ones on yours are nicely blended in a continuous contour... so "blended strakes"
Both in-line or offset rudder will work well, but in-line will probably allow your cat to turn both left and right with equal authority. An off-set rudder (usually mounted on the right) will allow good tight right hand turns but things may get a little nervous when turning left. Racers ususally dun mind because the regulation race courses run in a clockwise direction.
