    NQD Speed Storm (Hydroplane)

After reading thru the NQD Hyro post at RC Universe, http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/m_31..._1/key_/tm.htm I am inspired to get one n mod it!!!

I searched thru the forum here n only a single post here http://www.daddyhobby.com/forum/show...&highlight=NQD but it dates back almost 2yrs ago.

Anyone tried to mod it here locally b4??? Here is my plan :

    1) Get the smaller version one.
    2) Remove all stock electronics except motors.
    3) Get 2 esc to power 2 stock brushed motor, from rear, left prop turn anti-clockwise n right prop turn clockwise.
    4) Get a rudder n servo for steering.
    5) Powered by 6 cell sub c or 2S lipo.

If speed still not desired, drop in 400size motors. I tink the twin motor will be great for straight line speed!!!

I dont intend to go BL with tis boat, as I tink the ABS hull cannot take the speed.

    Will tis work????

Mustafa should have the big NQD Hydro. But I think it cost S$90+ n its really big leh.

In RC Universe, theirs weigh 2.9 - 3+ kg but they r using sub c packs lah. I still think its too big for it to properly hydro plane and need too expensive electronics which is not worth for a ABS hull.

I'm visiting Mustafa today after work n kept u posted. Time for camera phone to do some work!!!

Ok, visited Mustafa n it was a fruitful trip.

The NQD Speed Storm (Hydro) cost S$76.90 only there!!! Its 1:16 scale, the big one which I dont want.

The small NQD one, 1:25 scale cost me S$59.90 and its the last one. I got it liao!!! Now to see its performance in stock form. Juz did a mod liao, cut away the connectors and soldered deans connectors on. Will try out 2S lipo on stock boat.

                          Played it yesterday n today.

                          1) Stock batts sucks!!! 2S lipo DN 2150mah 20C batts rocks!!!

                          2) Straight line speed is decently fast, but does not track well in a straight line.

                          3) Waterproofing is quite good.

Need to really mod it for good fun. Will start modding it when the time is rite. Right now, juz enjoy the stock setup.
