    Volvo Nimbus

Has anyone tried the Volvo nimbus from jethobby?

    Any tips to share?

I got a leak in the boat and have yet to figure out where, but i suppose it's the driveshaft/transom part which i am going to seal it. Recommendations from X34 is to drip CA and seal up with epoxy.

Oh, yup, the leak is from that area, I've just dripped CA thru and the excess drips into the hull. It'll be an easy fix now that the leaking source is spotted.

Anyway to waterproof servos? I am thinking of setting up without the watertight box

that won't do, it'll restrict your servo movements..

try to seal off the hatch as best as possible..

put in some super absorbent cloth (super chamois) to soak up any water that may seep in...

If I can remember correctly, there seems to be a couple of openings covered by wire-mesh on the cockpit just behind the 'window'. I'm not sure what is it's intended function as this is not a nitro/gas boat so there's no need for air intake. Perhaps wholesale copying from the nitro boat without giving much thought?

Well, you might want to cover that.

You can also seal the hatch with electrical tape. Other than that, water can also get in from the stuffing tube. Greasing the drive shaft ought to reduce this.

Another way water can get in is via the many screw holes where the trim tabs are secured. Just remove the screws, apply a bit of rtv silicone over the holes and re-tighten.

You have already covered the part where the stuffing tube passes through the transom.

            Cheers!
For some people it's important to show what they have, for others it's sufficient to know that they have it.

                      Ammo,

How / where is the release catch for your hatch? My Dolphin is at the rear, like a old style door latch. Water do get in from there too, quite a big slot / hole! I gut a piece of rubber patch and silicon it to the underside of the latching system, taking care that the latch still needs to operates, only glue the edge of the rubber patch.

                      Hope this help.
