To challenge our imagination and ability, I am proposing we maintain a speed record log in DaddyHobby forum for the fastest boat/driver for Open category and various other classes in-accordance to international classification.

The record must be verified - meaning DaddyHobby "staffs" must be there to witness the trials. Using GPS or other reliable method to measure the speed.

What we get out of it - BRAGGING RIGHTS

    HZM what u think?

Punggol Park or other suitable body of water. For electric boats can do it at reservoir with PUB permission.

Sounds good. I think X34 best at connecting authority so that testing be done proper way.

He probably most suitable to be the official to certified the record

Let me know how you want to go about

            Cheers

              Like this, can?

For some people it's important to show what they have, for others it's sufficient to know that they have it.

I would want to be there to watch the event for sure!!!
If there's a rescue boat, i don't mind being on standby for that, hopefully i don't use up all the battery coasting around while waiting for deployments

Think Doraemon was there that day and Nightbreed.

2 x 2S LiPo, in series. Think that comes out to be 4S config, about 22.2V.

Thought the GTech units need to be plugged in to a 12 V source like a car cigarette lighter. I have a 1st generation unit... needs the lighter plug to give it the power.

I think the Garmin Foretrex GPS method is most accurate and reliable - using satellites to calculate speed and distance. Think that unit is also meant for joggers... so is at least splash-proof.

The Gtech units are in-car devices... so better ensure that it does not get wet. Also it also requires you to activate it, and will measure the data only for a 1-shot test run.. ie, like you do a 0-100 dash... you must ensure that you apply brakes once you cross 100 kmh, or it will register an error. Also, if you hit a wave, it may register 'tilt' and your run must be reset and redone. OK.. this is how the older units (Gen1 and Gen2 - GTech, and GTech pro) works.. not sure if the latest model has more to offer.

                        Cheers

Yup, I would say that is official, can we have the name of that Hull?

HZM pls take note of Adranli's post - when can we have that device? Once that device becomes available, it would be known as DH official speed recorder and anyone who wants to enter their results for BRAGGING RIGHTS must use that device.

The classes for BRAGGING RIGHTS are

                          Outriggers
                          etc

MA as a result of your posting, u are the official Brag for Vee/step Vee hull electric 4s lipo, Vee/step Vee hull electric unlimited, Open - unlimited -electric, Open - unlimited.

Not bad for getting 4 Brags with one run

If no one submitted a better result, the Bragging rights remains with you.

I think there was another posting with GPS results for other boats, if you can highlight, we can enter it here.

HZM - can u create a sticky table format with V-bulletin?

BTW, world fastest is 200 pls kph. Pls don't exceed 120kph in Ponggol Park, if the boat gets out of control it can very scary, had a boat went out of control once - went up the bank (the tall weed side) flew over the path, past the rain shelter - about 30 to 40m away from the water.

A 3S lipo pack will do. It gives out 12.6V. I run my in-car dvd player using a 3S2P 1700mah pack n finished the show Da Vinci Code on it. Thatz 2+ hours.

A standard SAF issue ziplock bag resolve such problems.

Never use such devices b4 but find it quite useful. 100km/h on a boat is freaking fast!!! I wonder anyone had a 100km/h run at Punggol b4??? Is it possible for that small pond???

G-Tech will not be a good idea. CCx4 has stated some of the reasons. The Garmin is water-resistant, light and easy to use. The most impt info, the top speed, can't be measured by G-Tech.
