    SG Gassers!

Ok, I'm starting this thread in the hope that gas boaters in sg will post pic of their machines and share their knowhow on these Premium Unleaded burning monsters. I know there are a few of you out there, so don't be shy (Ezzy, Dirty D, Esmund, etc.)

Me? I'm a newbie to gas so will have plenty of questions for your guys in the coming months - having just received my first Arrowshark gas boat today

As requested by Dirty D, here are some pics of the 'box opening' ceremony. For comparison to electrics, some of the pics below show Doraemi's BL powered SV27 alongside the 26cc Arrowshark.

To comply with PP/Nparks noise limits, I think my first task is to locate and import a "quiet" tuned pipe (Ezzy, where do I get one of those?)...

If in doubt - add more horsepower!

For some people it's important to show what they have, for others it's sufficient to know that they have it.

Not only that, this boat flies at 50MPH!!! I did some browsing on the net, this thing is close to 50" long, has a clutch so she'll sit still in the water, has water cooling for both pipe and heatsink, and may well have an automatic water pump....The owner should enlighten us all with a detail intro

I actually have thought about it before and has even gotten a quote but it was from China factory and not US. This is for one of these giants, but eventually I did not order cos worry of quality issues.

I attach some pics here for all to comment...the China deal (www.amax.com) quoted me USD$388 for ARR without electronics. I

I almost ordered another model from Purple Light called the White Shark. It has a cabin cruiser style hull and is quite sleek, but has a different engine to the one in the Arrowshark. That boat has a clutch and electic cooling water pump.

The Arrowshark is a more recent model made by another manufacturer in Fuzhou. It's available as hull only or fully armed with a China copy of the Zenoah 260 PUM (in fact, it is so similar to the Z 260 PUM I suspect parts are directly interchangeable!). It does not have a clutch nor elec water pump... which is fine if you subscribe to the KISS principle. I did some research on RC Universe before buying and it is generally held in high regard being based on a Seaducer hull design. Nelson of RC Worldwide (HK) sells a similar line of boats called Delta Force. The MIC hull is a proven race winner...

Just like Mad A has done with his SV27, there's always some work to do to improve "RTR" boats. I've already noticed that the wooden stringers are not waterproofed so will need to remove the engine to properly seal the plywood stringers. Also need to lay some more fiberglass around the stringers as it doesn't look like there's enough. Will also take a good look at the engine while it is out. One advantage about these MIC boats is that their quality may not be Aeromarine or MHZ, but all parts are replaceable as they wear out with the top quality US components. I have no complaints with the aluminum hardware that came with this boat... they all look well made and bullet proof. Replacements are going to be limited to the flex shaft and prop shaft bearings (which are normally consumables on any boat). As to the engine, will have to wait and see.

BTW, where are the "real" Zenoah 260's made?

The Zenoah's are made in Japan. Some of their parts are actually interchangeable with a Taiwan model called Chun Yan or CY. I recommend you this website to go to for ordering CY or Genoah parts it is called Dave's motors (http://www.davesmotors.com). I got my upgrade from them.

                        Herm...........

                        Its like a giant supervee............

                        anyway looks nice...
copy or not its nicely made...
but the stringers are problematic with the hulls that are sold without motors, they tend to be not straight....(i've read)
but the reviews are great on handling and overall performance and quality of the hull itself.

Yo, thanks for the web links guys... seems info and spare parts for the Z260 are readily available (at least from the US) I'm now pretty sure the Z260 parts are interchangeable with my motor

Ezzy, will the Cooper muffler cone be effective in reducing the dBs when attached to the end of a tuned pipe? Otherwise, will have to do the initial test runs in the Kallang river instead of PP
