Katana mini
Hi Derrick,
Sorry to dig up this thread again... Realise that I can't put pics in PMs.
Been fixing up the KM I got from your shop last week. After doing up the Ailerons realised that there is a large amount of warp in both the right and left ailerons.
I don't think I am good enough to fix the problem myself without breaking something. Think you can help to fix the problem?
Thanks.
Leon

Hi Bro Leon,
This is not a serious problem as we have checked with PA regarding this long time ago. They even mentioned this in RCGroups too.
The warp is caused by the humidity changes during shipping and hence the ribs and balsa contacts tends to change its density and warp a little out.
Solution : Use heat gun with gentle heat and "baked" it back to shape.
If you need help we have a heat gun in the shop, more hands, more eyes, more accurate...

Heh..heh..heh..
It will be set up as:
Good'old Himax 2025-4200kV 4:1 geared (output approx 1000kV)
spinning either the new GWS 12x6 HD or APC 12x3.8 SF or APC 11x7 SF
CC-25A ESC
2S 2100mAH
I'll be aiming for AUW 680g and 100W/lb power, so its gonna be an acrobatic pattern not a 3D ship.
Bringing it down to the shop on Friday to do some "treatment".
Hope to maiden this weekend.
Cheers,
Leon

push rod is ok if you do not do much 3Ding on the MD.
The cons of push rod... prolong knife edge on both sides will have different tension on the rudder rod, usually the "pull" side is stiffer on the controls while the "push" side has more tension on the rod reflex (against wind loading)hence it is not 100% throw.
The Nylon Strings are for Pull-Pull setup and both sides has equal pull tension and precision for rudder controls.

Warp removal service
Went to the shop this afternoon since I was free.
The boss gave me undivided attention in helping me correcting the warp. I am not a scratch builder and it's quite amazing to see the water vapour forming on the inside of the transparent cover when the heater gun went over it. Finally cured the warp (plus other issues) in about 1.5 hours.. and that's 1.5 hours of business time.. Even gave me some tips on handling the beast of Katana Mini.
What more can I say.
... and now for the wild trashing and crashing.
Cheers,
Leon

Bro, this plane is too nice for "wild trashing and Crashing" Can I offer you a EPP plane in exchange for your plane? You can take your pick at the LHS. How?
(Yes, I'll try harder...)
