    Stranded Boat Rescue Team

Well, I'm sure most RC boaters kena such situation b4.....

Last time when I started out, I was alone and my props kena caught by some inconsiderate fishers who left their nets in the pond.....left me stranded & helpless until i decided to wad into the pond to retrieve the boat just 1.5m away from the shore...

Took me a long time to decide the pros and cons of whether to retrieve it or to let it go...... I used sticks to test depth of water and soil conditions, etc, before i finally decided to go get it.

Thinking back, it can be dangerous, especially when u're alone.
(hey, how can u resist the temptation of not going out by yourself to run your RC models when u're on leave, and where all your other kakis are working? )

So here I am, offering any form of help if I can, just incase you're alone and your boat is stranded.... (eg. call me and say u need ropes, or bamboo poles, or lifejacket, or another rescue boat to help u push your stranded boat back.)

Am staying in the east area, so should be able to aide those at Punggol or Bedok Res. if I can be of any help. PM me for contact number if keen.

    Hi All;

I most certainly agree. There was a time where I was all alone at this quarry lake at Tampines, and my Viper was straddled in the middle of the lake by a loosen rudder (needless to say, it ran in circles)

I had to do what I had to do...swam...and boy I never wana try that again...trust me. So here I am, I would also like to volunteer my sevs....

What mike did the last time was quite ingenius. He tied a line with a float behind his reef racer and it snagged his Hydro quite easily by running a few circles around it and pulling it back! Seems I was wrong, the Reef racer is good for something afterall

That's only if there's drive failure or electronics failure....if like mine previously, props kena snagged by fishing net, then no choice... have to physically go and unhook the tangled net.

Again, it depends on the nature of the failure lar..
At some point, i was crazy enough to think of using helis for the rescue.. .....but the risk is far more than leaving the boat stranded..

Talking about Fishing Nets, that day I kena a big net at PP, 3 meters away from shore, slightly before our usual spot. That net trapped my propeller, stopped the boat smack, and flung my drive connector away

OK, Count me in, my car boot is permanently equipment
with fishing gear for the sole purpose of retrieving stranded boat.
It is also equip now with long range search light since the last time
my boat got stranded in the dark. I also have a mini-rescue boat
which I fitted a LED search light tape to the top of the rescue boat Canopy which I sent out in the middle of the night at Bedok Reservoir when my search light.

BTW, do you think RC heli have enough lifting power to hook up
stranded boat and hual it back?

Cool.....good to know that u're fully equipped..

And when I talk about Rc helis, I ain't talking about using puny little Trexes or Honeybees....

30size not enough, I can try 50size...if 50 size still not enuff to haul or pull a little boat back, I can use 90size...

And I think stranded sail boats can easily benefit from the downwash of the main rotors..

wally even if you could find a heli strong enough you'd need a really skillful pilot and forgiving conditions to perform the resuce with a scale heli.
If it all goes bad, you need to rescue the heli too and when a heli goes into a pond, it won't exactly float.....

stick with using lines or boats to perform rescue s

yeah...that;s why it ain't worth the cost of loosing the boat as compared to losing the heli...

But it can be challanging for the pilot though..
Sounds fun in trying to rescue a RC boat with a RC heli.

I was thinking of attaching a small magnet inside those reef racers. Rescue boats will tow a small float attatched with a powerful neodymium magnet (probably those ripped out from old hard disk drives).

When rescue boats move close to the boat to be rescued, the magnets would attract each other and hold the two boats firm enough to be pulled back to shore.

                        Wondered if it would work

An update: At the end of the line, tie a small plastic doughnut. It prevents the line from sinking and adds a bit of drag to keep the line straight. Also gives you a visual clue where the line is.
For some people it's important to show what they have, for others it's sufficient to know that they have it.

Was reading through OffshoreElectrics forum and came across this chap with a very innovative rescue boat.

Looks very effective in bringing a stranded boat back.
