    Hammer EP

It has been a long time since I last run my boats. Got some free tiome today, so off to Punggol Pond I went with my Hammer EP and ReefRacer 2 EP, both by Aquacraft.

I've tried using LiPo for my ReefRacer but the power was dismal and it slows down pretty quick. Post runnning, the LiPo became very hot! Tried a better LiPo today and what a difference it was! Power was constant and I was able to run the boat for quite a long time. In fact, by the time I packed up, the boat's still going strong. I used ETEC 7.4V 1700mAh HP pack this time round. Batt pack was just warm to touch. Previously, I was using Kokam 1500mAh 8C. I guess the Kokam don't have the discharge rate to handle the motor.

As for the Hammer, I used the Hyperion LiteStorm 7.4V 3700mAh 20C. It goes...and goes...and goes....and goes! Post running, like the ETEC for the smaller boat, it's just warm to touch.

    Some pics.

For some people it's important to show what they have, for others it's sufficient to know that they have it.

How did you know I'm using the S2IS? Yah, I must say the S2IS is a very good camera. Although, at 5MP, it's not as powderful as the current offerings, it's 12x optical zoom is outstanding.

BTW, you managed to get a good price for the Panasonic camcorder? I got a Canon MV880Xi courtesy of Starhub.

Yup, stock electronics. Too lazy to upgrade. Anyway, if want to upgrade, might as well get better boat.

                  Hammer EP
                  - 540 silver can with cooling coil.
                  - stock factory ESC (waterproofed)

Only mod is the DIY brush cooling for the silver can.

                  ReefRacer2
                  - 400 sized motor with cooling coil

Its been a long time since anyone (except Doraemon ) posted a review on a new boat

The Hammer is a nice boat. Well made and quite fast if give the right power plant. If this boat is on brushless and 11.1v 3S lipos, it would really fly! The weakness on this boat is its submerged drive & prop which will disintergrate if it encounters a submerge object, so a change to a octura brass prop will prevent the boat being stranded in the middle of the pond, as what happened to someone's Nitro Hammer . Also it is not unknown for the rudder to rip off due to the same reason so a bit of enforcement there will prevent that.

Nice to see you back in the boating scene MadArmour

Actually the Hammer's able to go quite fast because it's relatively light. It's abs body is actually rather thin, as compared to the pig Traxxas Villain EX. With the advantage of the lighter LiPo (190g compared to the 350g sub c) and higher voltage, it went faster.

Nah, not really thinking of upgrading. I'm afraid the hull may not be able to take the extra power. Brushless setup will go the the fiberglass hull. Hammer is only for toying around.

In case the Hammer's stranded, the Reef Racer 2's there for recovery job!

Yo friend! Welcome back to the pond!!

Nice job on both boats Will sure consult you if i ever go down the lipo route. About time you took the Hammer out of storage

Is the EP Hammer ABS? Had always assumed it was fiberglass... guess I got that one wrong
If in doubt - add more horsepower!

Well, I was sittin on my chair doing nothing when I noticed the Hammer's still sitting pretty on the topshelf. Quickly plastered the decals, installed the prop and head for the pond. I thought it was about time too.

The Hammer EP's hull made of ABS, while the GP's made of fiberglass. Cost saving, I guess.

As for LiPo, Hyperion has some kick-ass packs now. I stuck with the 3700 coz the pack fits into my EP cars. Multitasking here. If there's lots of space, like boats , can go for the 4350mAh or 5000mAh packs. The 5000mAh pack has a constant 100A discharge rate!
