Hi all, Dirtydynamics its good to hear you are keen in boats exspecially in those high end models power house. My question is, have you consider to a member of a club? With great power, comes a greater responsibility. Sound like you heard this line from somewhere. Do drop by the Ponggul pond on Sunday 2pm to 5pm.

1st of all welcome to the boating community

The boats u mentioned r all great boats but do appreciate these r almost dangerous cos of their speed etc, they can hurt someone if control it lost.

Someone has told me of a gas boat which climbed up the shore 5metres cos control is lost and that boat wasnt even going full speed but slowing down!. If someone was there, he or she would be badly hurt by the boat or the sharp propeller rotating at high rpms. That would mean many problems, complains, a legal suit for damages, injury, medical bills and perhapes even a closure to the pond to all gas boaters. There is also a noise level the boats will have to adhere to cos of the nearby HDB flats.

I hope I didnt dampen ur enthusiasm for boating but do join the club and get ez-zai's or the oldies guidance cos these boats r hardly toys but truly deadly missiles in inexperienced hands.

Dampen it? Barely, i love Speed........ And yes i know that speed is nothing without control...
I moved from Nitro cars/trucks to play EP and went all the way to Brushless and Lipo.
          Now Thats Fast !!!!!!!!!!!!!
So getting a boat that was fast was the only way to go but no worries, i will consult the "pros" at PP and get some needed guidlines for me to get what i need for SPeed.......

          Thanks

          Q's
Anybody owns a Gas Boat (not nitro but the zenoah, fuji engine types) ?
          Any comments ??
          Thanks

If u want speed the Seducer is the way to go. This boat won races b4 and its designed in such a manner that it doesnt lose as much speed on the turns.
Hope to see it at the Punggol one day

              yeah man....
did some research and its made to actually turn at full speed and scream its way to glory........

But i wanted the aeromarines sting ray as its powered by a zenoah / gas engine and means less maintenance etc etc etc

              You think ?

I believe the Seducer comes in various sizes which can accomodate a zenoah 260. The model is S3 if memory serves me right. I had wanted to get 1 in the past but the shipping cost is quite daunting. Nitro engines are just as good as gas engines with exception of fuel cost. Petrol being cheaper than Nitro but do u think u will run ur boat so often than u worry about fuel consumption? If u can buy a 2k setup will u worry abt a $50 gallon of fuel?

U can start a nitro engine using a electric starter but gas engines can be a biacth to start cos all of them r pullstart & u need to get the mixture just right.

As long as u run-in the engine welll, prime after run oil, a nitro engine will last real long & u can easily replace the cylinders & pistons. Can u do the same for a somewhat more complex gas engine?

A 2 stoker is really a simple engine which makes the power but is just less efficient in terms of fuel consumption. A 4 stroker gas engine have high fuel efficiency but is more complex, heavier, less bhp per cc and if u need to service it, u probably need to go to a motorcycle shop, assuming u have the replacement parts.

So I dont see much advantage in a gas engine except that if u plan to run your boat from Batam to Singapore on a regular basis then the fuel efficiency would be a factor in deciding which type of engine to get.

                  Fuel consumption

Yep, the gas boats are certainly high-end Also takes 2 guys to carry the thing from the car park to the waters edge ... and 3 guys to start them (one to hold the boat down, one to yank the starter cord, and one to be ready on the RC throttle and mixture control). You'll resemble an F1 pit crew every time you run

I seem to recall that Nic ran an Aeromarine StingRay at PP last year... that boat had all of the options box ticked. If I remember correctly, I think it cost Nic about SGD 5.5k to have it imported and set up. BTW, unless you use your own frieght forwarder/courier, the shipping will be by surface (snail) mail... too big for USPS air services
If in doubt - add more horsepower!

Hi all, I will to explain on the ''how you'' subject at the pond, hope you and your wify will be able to make it. There a wify "Reef Racer Team" in the making and I'm very sure your wify will get hook on it too.

Nic have inform me of your intention, Stingray needs a new ower one that will be able to take good care of it, you also need to get a Quiet Pipe to be able to run at PP.The current pipe it has on will not do, its exceed the DB limit.

Ez's the man when it comes to gas boats (in fact, I think he's also the man when it comes to ep and nitros as well!!)... I only play with the smaller nitro boats

Anyway, looks like Ez's got you covered
