Check this out guys...
Its going to happen on 1st May in Kuala Lumpur. Its quite near my home.
MAC II AERO MODELING COMPETITIONS
The long term objective is to provide a platform whereby the standard of R.C. competition flying in Malaysia can be raised to a higher level thereby enabling more participation in international events.
The plan is to hold a series of competitions in Kuala Lumpur, starting at MAC II in 2004 and ending in 2005. While taking the level of competitions to a slightly higher level it will still be easy for the general aero modeling community to participate. In addition as fun-fly events, this year, more formal aerobatic competitions will be introduced for heli and airplane.
Though these will not be fully FAI, IMAC, compliant, clearly this is the intended direction. Required maneuvers will be similar to those found in these kinds of competitions, so find a copy of the maneuvers (e.g.online) and start practicing!
The competitions will fall into two categories, Fun-Fly and heli/airplane aerobatics.
HELI/AIRPLANE AEROBATIC COMPETITIONS
Pilots will fly a series of aerobatic maneuvers in two heats to qualify for finals. Details of the required maneuvers and competition formats will be released in the near future.
FUN FLY COMPETITIONS
Together with the aerobatic competitions, it is proposed to have five fun-fly competitions as below: The objective is to introduce several pylon race events this year at the fun-fly level. These will be strictly limited in aircraft performance to keep it safe, fun and affordable.
ELECTRIC WING oR PLANE PYLON RACE
(ZAGGY, GARYDA aND oTHER sIMILAR tYPE aIRCRAFT)
Minimum 48” wingspan
Wing core must be cut or molded out of Styrofoam
Single 380 or speed 400 motor (brush) with 15amp ESC
Aircraft will be hand-launched at race beginning
50 meter pylon separation
Duration of race – 3 mins
Aircraft making contact with the ground will be disqualified
Each Pilot is allowed one caller
PYLON RACING 40 SIZE TRAINER CLASS
High wing trainers only! Minimum Wingspan 55 “ (Flat bottom wing)
Maximum single engine size 46 (Standard muffler – no tuned pipes)
80 meter pylon separation
Aircraft will be subject to a safety inspection before flight
UNLIMITED ELECTRIC PYLON RACING
Any plane, any electric motor(s) and controller
50 meter pylon separation
May be single or multiple engines
ELECTRIC COMBAT (ZAGGY, GARUDA aND oTHER sIMILAR tYPE)
Min 32” wingspan
Wing core must be cut or molded out of Styrofoam
(No metal reinforcement on surface of wing or protruding objects allowed)
Number of planes per combat circuit is five
Duration of combat – last aircraft flying
Once a plane touches the ground or is out of commission the plane must stay down on the ground until the event is over.
HELICOPTER PRECISION FLYING – SPOT lAND ON FIVE LOCATIONS AND PICK AND PLACE AND OBJECT
Land on 5 marked heli-pads
Knock down an object and pick up another with the landing skid
WATER ROCKET COMPETITIONS (YOUNGSTERS)
Build a water powered rocket
Longest/highest flight wins
