    Bat Glider

Gitten too bored and decided to do something with the 2 salvage EDF50 leftover by my A-10.

As usual another victim of "ITCHY the Eackside" went to buy some depron and started building this.

Wanted to make things simple so tot of just making a 2ch glider with aleron.
    Powered by:
EDF 50 x 2 (started with 1EDF too under powered)
    ICS400
    1 pico servo
    8.4 800mAh

Tried to fly it but.... YUCK!!! its really very difficult to fly. The shape of it make it hard to get the CG. V1 flew but crashed while still tryin to get the CG.
Too much throttle makes it tilt up and flip.(guess the front need to be heavier but there is limited space.)

Decided to built another one after the crash.
This time round make the wing span and wing area bigger.
Also standby a 400 size EDF if under powered.
    Also 2 x Pico servo and a V-mixer(IFO style)

If els cannot work, will mount a 400 prop and turn it into a Bat IFO.... hahaha!

Oh man! Thats really nice! Just paint it grey or black and you have a winner!
As for CG, safest is to mount everything, then do a glide test. Just chuck it with no power from a kneeling height. That should help.

        Th anx!

Hey..I am building something similar....previous reply is correct, but instead of mounting everything, just mount enough weight(doesnt need tobe aircraft hardware) and do glide test, starting with kneeling hight is an excellent idea make sure there is soft landing spot ahead and all the control surfaces are locked in fix neutral position except for elevator which should make 3 degree nose up (leading edge of stab down-longtitudinal dihedral) relative to main wings. do post flying pics...

Have bought up to now, 4 flying wing of various size (36-48inch)3 threw away after many crash/repair. Have made 4 flying wing too. The last 2 flying bueatifully after much experience(too long winded!). My last home-made fw used depron, no airfoil, everything so light! But cannot fly in too strong the wind.

            Tips here:
            1. If wingspan 36inch or less (CG become very sensitive), CG measure ~ 2-2.5inch from trailing edge(tail)with everything fitted.About 4-5 inch for 48inch fw.
            2. Knee height glide/throw test, aileron flat. Best no wind.
            3. Ducted fan is best locator in front(with guarded air tube till the back), or at back (front no blockage)-if not-drag +short circulation of air around fan housing(become no direction).
            4. Experience tells me those wingspan less than 36inch are hard to fly, unless indoor, especially with depron of no airfoil.
