Test cutting a piece of 5mm PVC sheet.
Fit it in a Dremel...
Go for high speed....
Just poke thru the PVC sheet and drag the bit in any direction..
The cutting is very fast.

In my hand, I can only do damage.
If used properly, it is wonderful tool.
Understand that it can also cut acrylic quite cleanly.

Planning to install the Dremel under a workbench with the Bit sticking up.
Install a guide fence and I have a "Table Saw".

Table saw using a 561 bit

Desperately needed a table saw to cut down to size plastic and acrylic sheets.
Gathered what materials I have on hand and assembled this simple cutter.

Holes have to be drilled into the Angle Bar to hold the rotary tool and onto the Plywood to accommodate the bit.
The height of the gantry is just high enough for easy shifting of the Fence Guide.

Table saw using a 561 bit

The 3mm plastic was easy to cut but the 5mm acrylic needs a little more time.
Fast spindle speed and constant slow feeding speed were the keys to a clean cut.
No coolant was used.

The plastic and 2 pieces or acrylic were cut using this tool setup.

The rotary tool had served me well for years.
It was subjected to all kind of abuse... both moral and immoral.
At one time I attached a propeller to it to fan a BBQ pit.
I even attached a cotton bud to it and threaten my niece to clean her ears or I will clean it for her.

With a little bit of maintenance now and then, it never gave me any problems.
However, when I tried cutting a 3mm sheet of aluminium.... it screamed for mercy.
I thought it died..... but it turned out it was just grouchy like an old man.
After cooling down... it worked ok.

Lesson learnt : If you need to cut aluminium... go borrow a friend's rotary tool.
