almost burned my house down today.

the lipo i was saving acted up this morning.
charged it last night with worleys charger at 300ma and it rose from almost 0v to about 8-9v this morning.

so i continued to let it charge and i went to church.
had a bad feeling so called home to check.

    my room was on fire!!!

Now that is scary. Well considered lucky already. Sorry to hear that.

So how do you charge it?

What cells for the battery and what cell and current setting did u set for your charger? What power supply u use for your charger? Is it the AC-DC adapter u use (The white color one)

yea last night i set it at 300ma.
this morning after checking no probs and the voltage was at acceptable range around 8-9v. i set it at 1500ma to charge.

yes using the ac-dc adapter seen in the pic.

Eh... u never mention how many cells it is.

If you said the voltage is 8 to 9volt, I assume it is 2Cells. That will be 8.4V at full charge. 9V is way tooo high.

Please do not use analog meter for the Li-Poly because it is not accurate. U should use digital multimeter.

what about the capacity of the Li-Poly?

The reason I ask is because I would like to know why. Is it:
1 - Charging at 1C on Over Discharge battery can cause fire?
2 - Too High C charging can cause fire?
                      3 - Wrong charger setting
                      4 - Lousy charger?
5 - Unstable power supply for non-regulated internal charger?

                        batt capacity is 1700mah.

i suspect its unbalanced cells after it was overdischarged or 1 cell was dead thats why 8-9v and not 11 volts.

so charging at 1500 too high for the 2 s remainding packs.
                        thus fire started.

seems like nowadays there are more and more lipo runaways happening locally. think we need to make this a sticky to warn everyone about the potential threats.
