THE WORLD OF RADIO CONTROL MODELING provides a tremendous challenge; it offers competition, satisfaction and fun for all who pursue its mysteries and magic. At first, the hobby can be perplexing, but in time, we all learn and reach satisfactory levels of achievement.

Most of us develop our own construction methods, engine insights, field procedures and flying techniques from kit or plan instructions, magazine articles, talks with other modelers, books and personal discovery. As progress is made, we all develop favorite methods or gimmicks for solving specific problems.

For years, Model Airplane News has published a monthly column called "Hints & Kinks," which features the best of the tips our readers submit. Produced by famed aviation artist, modeler, designer and author Jim Newman, the column has always been a very popular part of the magazine, and with good reason - in those thousands of tips, modelers can find solutions to many of the hobby's most nagging problems.

Over the years, "Hints & Kinks" has covered building, covering, finishing, engines, controls, tools, landing gear, flight boxes and many other items, but to find a needed hint in a stack of magazines, modelers have had to resort to a hit-or-miss strategy - until now! We proudly present the best tips that have appeared in "Hints & Kinks" over the years in a single package so you can find that gem of an idea quickly.
