Don't get too excited. This is just a intermonsoon wind variations. It's no fun soaring for just a few minutes before the wind suddenly changes its direction. This is the time, when countless models are damaged and people heading there only to come back home in disappointments.

    You can get those other 'consumer' info from NEA's site....and other sites...but those specific codes "METAR WSSS 101100Z 03003KT 360V060 4000 HZ FEW020 SCT030 BKN270 30/25
Q1012 NOSIG", are usually reported by some other agencies, not normally known to the layman.

So just wondering, as 'layman', how can we get those info?
I believe not everyone can have access to receiving such info right?

    Changi report today...
    in english...

Met aerodrome report, changi, 10th oct 1100 utc (7pm local), wind from bearing 030 strength 3 knots (about 5 km/h) varying direction from bearing 360 to 060. Visibility 4 km in haze. few clouds at 2000', scattered clouds at 3000' and broken clouds at 27000' temp 30 deg celcius.
high air density...no significant bad wx.

summary, today would have been good enough for HLG and light powered gliders like e-hawk.

Due to possible security issue...from now on, only wind direction will be posted.

started a topic Wind monitoring at Bedok Reservoir

    Wind monitoring at Bedok Reservoir

Gentlemen...is that time of the year to monitor and welcome the wind...

Instead of guessing the wind this year I hope we can consolidate all our effort to monitor the wind.

I propose everybody who lives near or at bedok reservoir to send in wind report as much as possible aspecially on friday prior to the weekend.

I will send in the statistic of the wind from Met report. For all who are leaving in the east and can see the planes taking off from Changi airport, the wind is good for gliding if the planes take off on r/w 02 (northerly direction)

And to all those who makes it to reservoir on weekdays pls feed back. Have to save time effort and fuel money. The Best is to get somebody who actually lives at bedok reservoir to monitor the wind real time.

    Report format:
Direction: eg. meeting the slope at 30 degrees left
Strength: eg. approx 20 knots or good enough only for powered glider or blowing caps and hats off
Consistency: eg. flying condition 30% of the time or flying condition 10% of the time or Limited only by Transmitterr Batt!!

    Cheers...
Working...
