Wanted to stay away from this thread, but u're right ... it has taken on a life of its own
Whats my key takeaway? People here do have an opinion and are not afraid to voice it.
What are possible next steps?
Perhaps we can use keep this thread as a sticky for people to provide feedback or voice an opinion that might otherwise change/distract the theme of another thread.
Positive responses I've seen include Phiber's change in avatar, etc ... Will also reinforce Oceanus's point that people do need an outlet to say stuff that may be small to others, but if left to fester internally, might grow like a cancerous turmor that can't be resolved
Governing thought may be to constantly remind ourselves when we post to this "feedback" thread on the differences between feedback and a complaint. Remember, Singaporeans thrive on negative appraisal and therefore complain too much ... me not an exception
And we should minimise that to separate the facts from the emotion.
In anycase, keep it going! Like Arthur - who didn't get his "fix" from the easystar, I don't get my "thrills" from leaving quietly ... it feels almost like swallowing poison and hope the other party dies as a result of it * hehe *
As a side, I was surprised by the number of pms, emails, communication from folks who drop by the other forum, and felt the same as me, but didn't say anything
Lets try to work on providing this alternative platform for feedback and dialogue, and perhaps we can act together collectively, as a community, on some of the obvious ones that serve to improve the quality of this hobby ...

Hi Everyone,
I'm no saint but I feel that we should be objective. It's good that some of your replies especially ammo & oceanus are very objective and address the issues and not against the people.
My objective here is to find out what is wrong with the Electric RC Flying Forum www.eflights-rc.com and how and what can be done for eflights & DH to coexist harmoniously for the benefit of RC community in Singapore. There is no denying the heli-gas fiasco showed the ugly side of some users from both forums but I hope we can put them behind and move on.
I setup the eflights forum because at that time there wasn't any electric flying forum in Singapore. I only had one objective ie to help beginners because I started flying electrics all on my own many years ago and I had to fly among the gas fliers and they all jeered at me but I hang on because I believed in the technology. Eventually I met several electric flyers who helped me and for the first time I realized I wasn't alone. Consider that there are 1688 Topics and 16869 replies in the eflights forum, the forum did helped many eflights beginners and from the forum many flyers came to know the existence of MS as an unofficial flying site. Like what some of you said, it takes 2 to clap and to communicate better. It's a fact that as any forum gets bigger with more newcomers, the newcomers will tend to always ask the same questions and as working adults I'm sure you realized that your time is already stretched between family, career and hobby that sometimes you just do not have the time to answer to the same questions. So it's inevitable that people may miss or ignore your posts. Or it could be the questions were not detailed enough to offer a good solution. There are also some individuals who get too passionate about the hobby and use harsh words or debate aggressively in the forum eg. the Prolux charger which are fine as long as there is no personal attack on each other.
It’s strange to say most of eflights "regulars" are anti-gas and anti-heli when we do not know their background right? I fly heli too and Joe one of Singapore's best scratchbuilder for scales started flying gas about 2 decades ago and he still flies gas.
(Btw he is also humble enough to admit mistakes by apologizing to everyone in both forums for the heli-gas fiasco which I must say few of us have the courage to do so) And there are others who used to fly control lines. So we really should put the heli-gas fiasco behind us and move on. In 5 to 10 years time where there is a convergence in the power plant that we use for our RC, there will be no differentiation between gas or electrics
Wei Young, immediately after I saw your post I sent you a PM to try to find out what happened but was unsuccessful so I thought here is the best place to discuss about it. I'm not afraid of discussing it in open here or fear of being flamed because my conscience is very clear
Contrary to your belief, I certainly do not have access to the "inner circles" or that I am vested and may carry a biased perspective. I am not a leader in eflights but just a beginner flyer learning every other day
What problems did you encounter from the “regulars” when your last 2 threads in the eflights forum were being answered? Was it something you encountered at MS or someone sent you a PM that made you told everyone to "look at yourself in the mirror"? I really do not know where is this "inner circle"? There is no flying club where one may fight to be the president and there is no gathering to discuss on "inner circle" issues. The only gathering is at MS to fly. And who is the joker who said something or did something that gave you the perception that the potluck gathering or funfly are only for the “regulars” and that “we will do you a favor by letting you join us”?
I haven't been to MS for about 6 months and when I passed by for a short while recently I suddenly saw so many new faces that I dare not speak to them or introduce myself in case they find me “hao lian”. And if every weekend you see new faces, it's inevitable that some of them prefer not to spend their limited flying time going around introducing to everyone but to wait for them to approach.
So I'm all ears to find out wwwwww (what went well & what went wrong)
How about organizing a gathering between members from both forums? Beers on me

Hi! I'm going out of country from tomorrow till monday - how convenient right
but will be happy to meet up, given the promise of alcohol ...
I myself have a bottle of vodka under my office table which I call "attitude adjustment". Very useful right after being called in by boss for scolding ...
Problem with feedback is that there will be gross generalisations and therein lies the reason why I think this topic can't be "put to rest"
Everybody takes different pieces of the message and internalise it according to their own personal experiences ...
Still, in the true spirit of providing general feedback, it is up to individuals to see if there are things that they relate to and feel if they want to pick up the gauntlet and improve things, but again, by themselves ... not be forced to by someone else
Can't help but think that pursuing this matter further, especially in this manner, would appear a little defensive ... but if u think meeting up helps, again ... I'll be happy to oblige.
Am at +65 96363864. Lemme know whatever

Sniper:
If u are free on sunday mornings, maybe u would like to pop by for our flying sessions. I would like to fly at MS as well, but the distance is too far off and there are no food/facilities around. very incovenient as i don't drive, hungry have to walk very very far to get food. There are quite a handful of flyers on the sun morning session that have to rely on public transport, it's pretty hard to understand the trouble we face unless in our position.
That's why i only fly at bishan in the morning and yishun in the afternoon on sundays.
in case of misunderstandings, i am not asking you to jump group but just to let u know u'll be welcomed to join us for flying as well. I appreciate the efforts by all people who make local forums available and i SUPPORT the fact that there should be no barrier or circle to divide each other.
When i do get a car(sadly, still a long long way to go....) i will want to drop by MS also!

Hi KP, thanks for the clarification
Guys, I am glad to see sensitive topic like this being discussed openly less the usual flame. I would had expected most ppl choose to keep low about such issue, prefer not to get involve fearing offending members of either forum. This is a place where u get to voice your opinion. You had the right to speak out but its up to individual to judge on what you said.
It will be nice to see members of 2 forum come together, but I forsee it may take quite a while. I really don mind flying at MS, just a little far
I see very few members from DH posting at rcflying and same thing the other way round. We probably just need some mixing around to get use to it.
I will try to pop by MS more often and perhaps try to organise a funfly where members of 2 forum can have chance to interact.

Hi Mike and KP,
Can i suggest something, maybe both forums could be linked to each other, with an extra button.... say... top right corner of each forum site, with that, i'm sure both forum groups would interact with each other and know about each other's activities, maiden flights and such. That would boost friendship, and who says glow-flyers hate electric and vice versa, i'm about to jump into electric myself too, shhhhh! new scartch-building project akan-datang

Ha loyn, you don't always see philosophical (sp) topics here? Good to have a few somewhere.
Really I think the easiest attitude to adopt is to be ready to accept everything and everyone, but with a tint of care.
I don't give a da*n if its plane or electric or heli or gas or the if that machine runs by burning mud, if its fun then its game. Anyone who can talk to me will be talked. Anyone who has yet to talk to me will eventually be talked by me.
Simple huh? lol
either way, anywhere you go, there will be hardcore specialised supporters. "yoyojam sux", "duncan rules", "raptor cheap", " fury is for insane flyers". Everywhere there will be such comments. Resultant: you decide. You own your money and you own your skill. When you reach the top or some where recognisable by people, you can point at the feda and ask them to try 3D on it because you already can. Itssss da skilllzzzzzz.
