    Hi Folks,

I totally agree with you guys on Champion's atittude (its in their blood, regardless its Chan, his wife, daugther or son) they all just behave the same, did you guys realise...?

I think the wife is champion among them...

"Can I look at that plane..?" I asked. And the replied was "want to buy or not? Don't buy, don't see". I bet many have kena this before too right...!!

Another thing, if you happen to meet him in the flying site, asked to check freq...he will reply "special.....special" . Don't know what so special...!!
    Regards

Totally agree with Airborne 100%!!!! How uncanny, I thought I was the only one to get it from the whole family.

I recall when I was a newbie to RC heli and was most unfortunate to have Champion as the first hobby shop that I visited.

The wife was manning the store then. I was very interested in the DragonFly in the display window. I asked how much? And she quoted a v low price, cos there's no electronics and controller. As I was completely new to the hobby and Dragonfly, and I only heard that one needs servo and some electronics to fly, I asked if I need anything else to fly the thing. She said, "Go and see the display lor, everything is there." So I asked if she can take out the model and let me see. Without any emotion and feelings, and without looking at me, she just replied, "See from window lor." I told her I can't see the internals, I would need to take a closer look. Guess what was her reply? Nothing. She started doing some stuff and just don't bother to answer me. I stood there like a fool waiting for an answer. After a few seconds of awkward silence, I realised that I wasn't going to get any answer, so I asked her if it included servos etc. Guess what she replied? Like a moron, she just repeated that same statement, "Go and see from the window lor." Talking to her is like talking to a brick wall. Was at the brink of scolding her... really trying v hard to control myself.

Then I told her I would like to buy one now, can I pay her the amount that she just quoted for a RTF model? Ah... suddenly she got interested and shouted for her husband to come down. Chan came and took out a calculator and started checking through his inventories and price and punching them into the calculator. Wow, he was really trying to "kotok", adding alot of stuff without checking with me if I needed them. After going thru all the trouble and announcing the final cost, I pretend to look v thoughtful and then said that I needed to think about it (cos I was not too happy about the treatment already and also needed to consult some friends). At that point, Chan's face turned colour instantly. That moronic wife of his too. Somehow I felt satisfied as I leave the shop.

Another visit months later, wanted to buy a small motor. Her daughter was there (looked like them). Then I thought, ahhh, perhaps finally a more friendly service from a Champion staff. Alas, to my great disappointment, the same attitude - black face, unhappy to answer queries, poor product knowledge etc. It was only then that I conclude that it runs in the family! The entire Chan family is a hopeless bunch!

Anyway she brought me a motor and I told her that I'm not sure if it is the same as the model that I want. Then the stupid Chan blurted out, "In this hobby, everything is learning thru trying. Don't try how to know if it fits?" Basically he's just interested in making the sale and not meeting customers' needs. I know that if I bought it and if it doesn't fit, I can never expect to get a refund or change for another model. So I told him I better not risk it. Again his face turn black. Daughter also. Sigh..... the Chans are just incorrigible.

I wonder if one of us get him to read Daddyhobby. would he change?

Airborne is so lucky to run into him at the flying field. If he replied "Special...special" to frequency questions, suggest that everyone at the field just turn on the radio and jam his freq. When his plane starts to loose control and he starts to get "kan cheong", he will surely start screaming to ask for our frequencies. Then everyone, without looking at him should reply, "Special.... special" And when his plane finally crash, then we should go over to his plane carcass and shake our heads and say, "Wah... really special frequency. Can cause plane to do kamikaze stunts. Wah.. special..special"

something which may get CASE interested is that most local flyers do not buy much from him because of past exp or reviews from other guys. seems whenever i go i only see indonesians, malaysians and other foreigners. sometimes some ang mohs as well. what a disgrace to SG. they must be thinking we're just another god-damned asian country with swindling chinese/indian/malay ba$^#&. they go back to their ome countries and test out their engines and such without ever having hope of getting their money worth

Honestly, I don't even know where his shop is. But I could remember I made some calls for product enquiry (somewhere in 1999 or 98). I guess its the wife or daughter who answered. I know I was not pleased at all. That explains why I resisted visiting.

Arthur, I know his flying is very good, I saw him do 3D with 30V1 too............and also witnessed his engine fail....must be the ASP lah

Sorry loyn, have to disagree with you there. I think it is basic flyer's code of conduct at the field to declare frequency for the safety of the flyers and the public. One can never say we are not "touched" as long as someone is flying out there with you with an unknown frequency. At registered flying clubs like RMS, you will be thrown out of the field if you refuse to declare freq. I was simply aghast and disgusted at Chan's lack of regards for fellow flyers safety by refusing to declare freq.

We are not trying to be vindictive here and we should never be, esp when it comes to RC aircraft, we respect these machines. But Chan's aircraft should never be allowed even to take off if no one can be sure that the frequency he's using will not be interfering with yours. Hence the pre-emptive jamming to prevent him from taking off, until such time he learns to respect fellow flyers in the field and public safety... or he moves to another field, maybe RMS? Let the RMS deal with him and then he'll understand RC Code of Conduct.

Are we commenting about the shop and the shop owner or the flyer.

What he does at the field don't really matter to the original topic on this thread right?

... also.... Mike... is it a "NO GO" for the favorite shop listing? (or shop review, or whatever it is called)
                          huh

This person in the limelight happens to be the lead actor. He is mending the shop, probably owns the shop...and happens to a R/C flyer.

He affects all R/C fylers, in the shop aswell as at the field. He disregards the safety of other flyers and himself.

I think its ok for all to know that there is such a R/C pilot out there in the open. We can't change what is happening, but at least we can excercise caution and warn the newbies.

Yup Piccolo you are right as we should beware of those who fly in the field without considering the others. As I have such bad experience too during my early RC day. My first low wing plane was shoot down by such person, and he just act burr and walked away.

What I means is don't go down to their shop so indirectly they will not able to "cheat" you and you will be save from such @#$ hole.
