A question that puzzles me today

    Dear fliers

Have a weird thing happen today while i was flying.

On my 3rd pack, as i spool up i notice my tail was nodding.
I thought it could be my tail blades not extended out fully thus it was oscillating.
So didnt care, just spool up to full head speed.

Then in flight i still notice the tail nodding slightly.

But it was very windy so i just didnt bother and assume its the wind causing it.

Then as i decided to land, my heli just slammed down from about a foot height and.unfortunately my tail fin hit the turf, twisted towards the tail blades and broke one of the blades.

Only then i went to check that i found out all my gears had been damaged ( all the bevelled gears on the tail boom ). Main and auto rotation gear spared from the damage.

Then checked again and realize oh shit why my elevator Servo also spoil !

Any idea how could this happened?

Im sure a hard landing wouldnt damage a elevator servo.

Or was the servo that failed at moment i was landing it, caused the heli to come down so fast, it cause that hard landing ?

    Puzzled.

Anyway, got to get replacement.. Hopefully it is a one-off event...

Had flew this heli for 15 packs safe and sound.. Dont know why this funny thing happens.

Sounds like ur elevator servo is faulty thus tail is nodding.
    Too many helis!

If so then there is quality issue with Align servos leh... I wasnt even doing any "bitch" pumps ( feud's words ) or 3D

Inspected the servo and indeed its faulty.
There is a very faint buzzing sound and servo horn will not move to desired position.
But when i give it a nudge it moves and stop at the correct position.
The motor seems to not able to receive the potentiometer from the horn side.
Should be electronics bad. So no way to troubleshoot further.
All gears are metal so its not gear issue.

Hope the real problem lies with this servo ONLY and not any other factors and i will be relieved.
Today really did more satisfactory flying and im still very happy even though there was part failure and down time. Haha !

Somehow due to some mojo inside, i was doing some pretty fast flights, funny piros and stall turns in those 15 to 20 klicks wind !
        Very 刺激 very 爽!

Replaced all my damaged gears, new tail blades and new servos today evening and everything fits into place well, with some elbow grease while trying to press the bearings into the plastic gear shafts.
I couldnt find a suitable tool to press the bearings over the shaft.
Got a lime neon blade although personally i hate green colors.
Must be bad experience in the army. Haha !

Well i should say after the replacement, all goes well, and i had a " fewleng" that the gears rotates even better than it had when i first built it.

But this shouldnt be a stupid excuse to damage any more things in order to make it even better after a repair..haha !
