Why are RC cars still using deans?

Noticed that the latest cars in the market are still soldered with red deans. The Yellow XT60 is easier to solder and more reliable in connection. Most lipos are also soldered with XT60 connector nowadays. Is there any reason for that? Why are RC car players still using deans?

    Anyone can advise?

Some are still soldered with Tamiya connectors!!!

I think Deans or XT60 will depend on personal preference.
Some people have all their existing batteries, ESCs etc soldered with deans and will not want to go through the hassle of desoldering and re-soldering with XT60.

XT60 is an 'open-source' design ... if I'm not wrong it was 'invented' by Hobbyking. They get no royalties from it so its cheaper for any factory to produce. The Deans connector is not 'open-source' and factories are supposed to pay the Deans company a certain amount of money for using this design.

If you don't like Deans, you can always buy an XT60 - Deans converter ... female-male / male-female etc etc.

            Thanks Cirrc!

That explains a lot. Hopefully we can all just stick to 1 or 2 common connectors without so many type of adapters
