    Stepper RPM

    Hi guys,

    What is the typical maximum RPM of a 12V 0.3A 400 S/R NEMA 16 size stepper ?
This is running on full step without a chopping circuit.

Sorry no info on the inductance.

The best I achieved is "Grandma goes pasar malam" speed of 60 RPM.
    So slow.
    Is this normal?

Appreciate it if those whose eats and sleeps with stepper motors can advise.

By the time Grandma arrives at the pasar malam,
    all shop will be closed.

    The leadscrew is M5 x 0.8 .
If I were to use a 1/4" x 20 threaded rod, I'll gain speed but losses torque.

Can anyone advise if we can pump Grandma with steroids?
Or should Grandpa get a new ooolala younger Grandma?

      .
Build this setup based on what materials I have.
Needless to say, the machine is too big for the stepper motors.
Torque is okay but speed is Nada-Zero.
      However, all is not lost.

Attached a laser diode to the Z axis and Grandma Stepper got a new job.
Her slow speed is ideal for laser cutting thin black foam to be used as airbrush templates.
The diode has been with me for ages and has only now shown prospects of being useful.
      Almost got rid of Grandma.

      Back to my earlier question:
How do I make the Grandma go faster without using a chopping circuit ?

Also, how to cut a 1/8" drill bit to be used as an endmill for the rotary tool ?
