    Heli Flyers Statistics

RC Heli is a tough hobby, the learning curve is very steep.
You need to have time, money, as well as good eyesight, and, if I may say, characters.
Even luck plays a part too. LOL.

If one finally managed to get into the hobby, many give up along the way.

Base on my encounters and observation (in SG):

    A. About 10% will give up within the 1st month (didn't even get pass hovering)

    B. Another 20% will give up within the next 3 to 6 months

    C. A further 50% will give up within the 1st 12 months

So, we have about 20% left to get into the 2nd year.

    D. Of these 20% that get into the 2nd year, about 50% will give up within a year or so.

    E. Only about 10% or less will get into 3rd year. Of which only 2% will be regular flyers.

They say all very good pilots forget how to hover. You must be a very good pilot.

Though a lousy flyer I must say that Im happy that I manage to progress till catergory
            E. lol. Being an old fart & self learner indeed the curve was real real steep.
Started with an E Sky which almost required daily visits to hobby shop to purchase
replacement parts. Move on to TREX 500 & as the bugs bite came 2 Atom 500 & a
Trex 550. During catergory C I almost threw in the towel. Can you imagine 3 crashes
in 3 consecutive days. Crash faster then I could rebuild, hung up for a month or 2.
One day went to my LHS saw this thing called Goblin well it was a must have for me
hence it drew me back into flying again. Well I must say during all this time when flying
there was always the fear of crashing . The fear finally went away when I crashed my
Goblin 630 & it was agony, cause of crash faulty motor, cut in flight don't know how to
auto yet shit shit shit. Dont know what got into me there after but it was to hell with it.
Since then manage to teach myself self bailing out no need gyro help for that . Lol
In closing what you say is true only 2% will last till Cat E

Cheers & thks for bringing this up

In this case Mid Fart then
The old adage of can't teach an old dog new tricks
kind of holds true ya. You can do many tricks on
the Sim but comes flying one tends to keep in the
comfort zone. Haizzzz much search for inspiration
                    to push myself forward
The one thing that I win over most is hands down
building always very careful & plan on proper build
& neat install. That's why when I crash heart really
                    aches

                    Cheers

Your problem is you have not clocked in enough flight time.
You need to do at least 30 to 50 flights per week.
I think you need "supervision", just like me.

                        30-50 flights ya, wait till
                        I retire ya. Lol
                        Another set back I dont
live in Sg la. Been thinking
also to look for a Shi Fu

                          Join us when you retire.

Our club entry requirement is very low, you just need to have the 16 basic heli flying skills.
There are many shi fu here, all are high-hands.

This is a Cantonese speaking club. So, you can practise your Cantonese language skill here. LOL.

Thank you NB. Wow looking at ur lipos really really
hard core. Didn't realize that he spirit of Shao Lin
still exsist in present day. Lol
Think I would be stress out if I were to fly with you.
Btw it really does seems that you do fly 30-50 times
per week ya, don't you need to work ? Lol
Ok you provided some inspiration for me to move
ahead. Will see whats happens next.

                            Thanks

Yes, flying with me you will get "stress out" for sure. But after "stress out", you will be a different person. LOL.
This is 置之死地而後生 and then 脱胎换骨.

My "job" is to fly heli.
