    BHT - Basic Heli Training

After a few years of heli training, I am finally getting near to pass out from my BHT. LOL.
Now I can start to dream about doing 3D.
Thanks to my training horse; the T-Rex 700. It only failed me once in the last 3 years. Lucky me.

My BHT consists of the following 12 basic steps.
I follow the exact order (sequence) during my training. It seems to work better for me.

    1. Upright tail-in hovering
    2. Upright nose-in hovering
    3. Upright CW forward circle
    4. Upright CCW forward circle
    5. Upright CCW reverse circle
    6. Upright CW reverse circle
    7. Inverted nose-in hovering
    8. Inverted tail-in hovering
    9. Inverted CCW reverse circle
    10. Inverted CW reverse circle
    11. Inverted CW forward circle
    12. Inverted CCW forward circle

I was just trying to share my training strategy. I listed a 12 steps training programme. My heli training follow according to the order of these 12 steps. I only move to the next step when I can fly reasonably well in the current step. It is my believe that these 12 steps are the most fundamental skill of heli flying. If I can complete these 12 steps and fly with good confidence, I can then start to practise any manoeuvres without fear. I stick to this programme and stay focus, I have a clear training objective. This is just my view, at least it works for me, and I know what I am doing.

The idea is to stay committed to the training programme. Some steps may take many months to learn, but you need to stay focus and determined. For example, I took 3 months to learn step 5, but took 8 months to learn step 6. And I made sure I completed step 6 before I started step 7. I didn't skip any step.

I always think RC heli is a very good hobby. It can develop one's character - strength and determination.

For those steps that you "cannot do" or "can never do", try to change/adjust your training approach.
Your brain is very smart but it is also very defensive (it tries to protect you). It is likely that this defensive mechanism is causing the problem, you need to find a way to overcome it. Just need to try different approaches until you can do it.

If all approaches fail, I have one method that will eventually work, but it needs discipline and determination, and time.
Let me know if you have try all approaches. LOL.

You are in the right hobby.

The only defensive mechanism is primarily the lack of funds for repairs.

Keep it up! Few can complete the BHT and many gave up in the process due to wide variety of reasons but mainly funds with time. Practicing with 700 can be daunting process as any mistakes or wrong execution within seconds will result in costly repairs and turn around time. Even the spares have to be catered for, from a viable job revenue. Practicing smart and moderately is highly recommended.

You have done well for that sequence and I seriously believe your basics fundamental will be many times stronger.

                          Hello fatdiablo,

Welcome to the heli club. Finally you got the heli after a few years. I fly at OHR (Old Holland Road) on every Sunday morning, but I will not be flying tomorrow. Please join us for the training. Flying heli is really fun.

Hmm, "look see look see" har. LOL. Don't let uncle Kenny see you doing that at the field.
Uncle Kenny always say, all pilots must fly when they come to the field. Haha....
