How to discharge large size lipo packs ?

    Hi guys

Any good suggestion to quickly discharge a large lipo pack that is fully charged ?
Problem is sometimes last minute I cannot go flying, and I need to discharge all 3 of my Lipo 6S .
But discharging them through my charger's discharge function is very slow, almost 1/2 a day for 1 pack.

What good suggestions to safely discharge them all to around storage, or near storage voltage ?

    hi blueangel,

i believe most of the chargers in the market has storage charge function. Just set the storage voltage you want it to be and it will do the rest of the work.

    what charger are you using?

How long does it takes for you to discharge to storage voltage ?

Mine took several hours cos max discharge rate is low.

I am using PL8 which discharges at 10A, so it is much faster.

Depends on what discharge rate you set on. I usually set it about 1c. Should not take more than an hour.

I do not discharge the lipos. Just keep it for next weekend to use again.

I think this is the Power (W) limitation of the charger that limits the current.

Why waste all that unused lipo energy? Buy the turnigy lipo --> USB device and discharge your lipos by charging your mobile devices. The current flow will be about 1A or more depending on the device.

I was thinking buying a few 24 volt DC fans and connect them up... Cool down my house.
