    LBLP ver 1.0

LBLP stands for Longkang Boat Launching Platform.

Singaporean rc boaters are a sorry lot.
Places for playing boats are not many and may not be near to home.
Canals close to homes are an option... but they are usually guarded by people who nuts... this cannot... that cannot.
But sometimes the rules are very grey, and if you can safely go down to the water to launch your boat.. why not give it a try.
If you cannot go down to the water how?

So I made this high-tech-rocket-science device to launch boats in the longkang behind my house.
This is ver 1.0 ..... with ver 2.0, I will be able to launch sailboats.
Presently, launching a sailboat is a problem because of the keel which gets caught in the creepers.

The canal behind my home is a good place for boating.
The water is usually green but turns into Teh C when it rains.

There are steps that leads you close to the water, but this is out of bound for us public.
    Besides, they are slippery.
You may break your coconut if you fall.
Oh yes... if you are a lousy swimmer like me, you would probably drown.

The device I built is simple.
The plastic "L" brackets are from Ikea.
The wheels are about 70 cents each.
The Aluminium box is from my old stock.

I wasn't sure what kind of length I would need for the pole, so I got a telescopic 6m.
This is the most expensive item... S$28/-.
It is used for painting high ceilings.
If you need one... don't buy.... "borrow" one from a construction site.

Everything is supposed to be held together by rivets... but I ran out the rivet bullets.
      So I used screws instead.

As the canal wall is inclined, the device is slightly tilted, causing the L bracket to form a V.
The boat sits in this V.

If your canal wall is vertical, this thing don't work.
Your boat will slip and fall.

Oh yes... during the trial, the plastic wheels sounded as if you were dragging a coffin.
I need to change to rubber ones.

Thanks guys for the nice comments.... it is a cool idea.... but a lousy design.

If the water level drops... this thing don't work.
Even with a 6m pole I was left high and dry.
I was short by half a metre.... really bang balls.
I have to climb over the railing if I wanted to launch the boat.

Another problem... because of the long length, it is hard to hold the pole straight up during the recovery.

The pole tends to fall backwards.
                Might hit someone behind you.

Instead of pole, how about using rope to lower it. U may need a weight at bottom to stablise the platform.
