My Honey Bee T

Hi,

Does anyone know the approximate so-called "service ceiling" of the Honey Bee T model? With fully charged batteries, I trottled up to max and could only manage about 1m off the ground.

So I tried forward flight (real fast) and after 25-30m in a few seconds, it climbed to about slightly higher than 2m, where it became really unstable near a pillar and crashed..

Luckily there were no serious damages. Question is, in order to fly higher do I have to gain speed? So what's the max. height for hovering on the spot?

I have been flying with the 650mAh from Honey Bee (w/o any letters) which is heavier than the stock 300mAh. Got 2 battery packs to extend my flying session.

Also, I've noticed the motors heat up real fast, after 1st battery pack is expended. This greatly shortens my flying time with the 2nd battery pack. Was thinking about adding heatsinks, maybe with some thermal grease. Will this help? The stock heatsinks are so slim and don't cover the entire motor body surface. Shall I get 2 or 3 for that?

Thanks.

I think it sure can go more than 1m. Your problem maybe due to:
1 - Your blade loosing its pitch. That is no longer undercamber but flat instead. Therefore no lift
2 - Your motor is dying off.
3 - Your battery weak.

BTW... during the time I flew my Dragonfly, I feel that with or without heat sink don't really make any different. Brush motor die off fast due to its brushes wear out.

it can fly quite high for a FP..if i not wrong can go near 1 storey. using a 1400mAh lipo batt wif no training skids on full throttle but then cannot really last long.

Hi

By using Etec 1250mAh battery, I have it climb to 5th floors on a straight hover with out any problem.

Honey Bee T

Hello everyone. I am also using the same heli. I think from many forums, this chopper get mix reaction from fellow hobbyist. I suggest we start a small "support group" for this chopper. Cos even i got into problems..I fiz out the battery on the 2nd day i got the chopper over use and it went to flat zero..can't charge..
I was told that the heli can fly very very high. And speeds up to 60-70km/h
As for battery i just lost my 11.1V 1000Mha ..it lasted for 1hr on my floor hugging flight..
If there are better batteries, can anyone reccommend and maybe the price also...and does the charger than i bought useable on larger capacity batteries?

Perhaps about 5m/s? Which translates to approx. (5 X 60 X 60)/1000 = 18km/h. Maybe around 20km/h thereabout.

All the problems pinpoint to one thing, ur own setup.

For stock setup, HB can climb. Tis also depends on ur brushed motor, batts and main blades. Any of tis not proper, than dont expect miricales.

If u wana blink the HB, then it will definately fly very well!!! Add in a brushless setup, CF blades, 2s 1250mah lipo batts n most important GY240!!! Then u r ready to conquer the skies!!!

Guess what? I have already spent almost $375++ for the heli set, accessories and spares to date (barely a week into the hobby) with Honey Bee T.

Bought this battery holder (S$7.50! So ex!!) and couldn't install on the skids because they're stuck. Got expensive glue buster and that didn't work as sell. In the end I twisted the legs until they cracked.. Even lost some small screws (S$6.50 a pack!!!) in the process Then I realised that those are not metal sticks - They are carbon fiber rods!! No wonder so expensive.

Now have to go back and get another pair of skids (my heli is grounded now as it has no "legs")

I got the battery holder as I was using simple velcro but wanted to shift the weight back. My control sticks were bent all the way back for vertical hover takeoff to prevent forward mvmt.

heliguy u can actually mod the batt holder to hold lipos instead, and u don't need the battery holder for nimh to do that. learnt that from awesome.
hey where u stay ah? we have regular ff near my place, usually fri nites.
