Is it the same "spirit" we use in those food warmer as in like fondue. Cos I bought some from HomeFix DIY store.

Comes in a glass bottle with a cork stopper like those during the old kampong times when we go buy kero.

It should be a clear liquid called denatured alcohol in the states and methanol in europe. I have checked the term on the web and in hokkien it is called "Huey Chiew","火酒", i believe

Most neighbourhood "Gor Kim Tiam" should have it...

Like what Icon mentioned, they usually come in those green "Ching Tao" beer bottles with a cork.

Can check with pharmacy. It's used as sterilising agent in clinics. There's 70% and there's 95+%.
For some people it's important to show what they have, for others it's sufficient to know that they have it.

It's actually a mixture of ethanol and methanol. Methanol is added as a poison to prevent ppl from buying it and mix into their juice for a cheap fix.

Incidentally, the antidote for methanol is.........ethanol!

I am thinning acrylics for airbrush, since the acrylics are water based, I was told that using denatured alcohol will be the cheaper fix compared to using the thinning solution provided by the paint producer.

Paint thinners are very special, if u are thinking of thinning your paint, u should use the right one specified for it. Some paint are slow dry, and if u thin it with fast thinner - the finishing would be and vice versa.

For cleaning the mess after painting, cheaper the better.
