    stuff

    Hi guys,

I am a complete beginner at this robot thing but after checking out the robot links on the forum, it seems to me that its something i would be very interested in...

I have very basic knowledge in electronics and learn a few C programming codes here and there..

i would like to have something that i can program myself and do fun stuff with in my spare time..Playing around with computer codes and check out the stuff that happens..

It doesnt matter if its just a bare PCB board.. I especially dont want a readymade robot that i just fit in the electronics and program myself..

i basically want to start slowly and learn from scratch

so, where should i start with? Also, which program do u use to program these robot things? C programming?

then as time goes by, i can buy sensors etc and fit in and make more fun stuff.. By then, i will fit all these stuff into a robot

Of course, i will need to improve my electronics and programming knowledge

    Thanks a lot!

    cheers

if its long term, c / java is the "basic" standard language.

there are a few software that are more friendly and easier to use,
but have limited function, mostly are drag and drop if-then-else command.

would be easier to get started if you can get a control board in the market
then to diy one, no point re-inventing the wheel. most can be customize
    and support different languages.

as usual, a lot of junk can be recycled, both hardware or electronic.
you might want to start collecting them.

do start a log on the progress, good for motivation and records and most
importantly, sharing the knowledge, challenges, problem solving and joy
    with us.

do keep a budget in mind, any project will end up costing a bomb undetected.

    all the best.

being lazy, a kit coupled with a drag and drop is good enough for me.

Its a Great day, lets fly, crawl, and fight.

      hi bro,

thanks a lot for your reply!

sure, thanks a lot for the info..

i searched online and saw a prgramming language called picaxe for these robots thing..

is it the drag-drop type function or is it something that u can really program like C/Java and grow up with it?

      thanks!

from the description, looks like its base on the BASIC language.
there is just too many ways to program the chip, haha

i don't think the language used is important, cos most probably there is a way
to translate it to "chip" language in the net or at the least the hardware available.

you might be interested to do a search on "Arduino",
        open source is always good.
(and as usual, good stuff always comes with cheaper clones)
