    Hirobo SDX

Finally got my hands on the new Hirobo SDX!!
Even though I have had a few helis, this is my first Nitro kit build and was looking forward to the assembly.

Will use whatever extra electronics that I have laying around as I am on a budget to get it up and running.

I will post pictures of the build as I go along.

fine and better than last time though!

Finally a new kit! We evo owners(ex-owner for me) have come a long way... ur HPM surely got my attention back then!

                        The build begins!

The old sceadu evo was good but as with any helis there are areas
that can be improved and the new SDX addresses these areas.
I will highlight these improvements during the build.

                        Frames

The new frames has more material around the landing gear mounting bolts. The old frame will always break at the LG mounting points in a hard landing or crash. You can see where the old frame broke in the photo.

                        Servo Tray

The servo tray is vastly different from the previous Evo, the electronics are positioned for a higher CG.
                        Its much stiffer than before.
Previous tray was secured with self tapping screws which over time wears the mounting holes and causes play.
Now the mounting is much improved and eliminates any play and wear. Very welcomed change in this department.

                        1-piece LG

Lepton style LG. Very low profile and comes with rubber isolation dampers like
                        on the Turbulence D3.

                        Completed frame

                          Main shaft

The bolts used to hold the head on the main shaft is 3.5mm instead of the Evo's 3mm and the knurled grooves for the radius block to grip on is gone.

The mainshaft is longer too and the head now sits higher, away from the boom.

Thats it for tonight... Will continue tomorrow..

                              The Head...

                              The FZ-5 Head

Its based on the Turbulence D3 head and optional aluminium parts
from the D3 will fit this head too.

The new head is definitely beefier! Everything is bigger!
Its built like a 90 sized head.
The grips are huge for a 50 size.

This how much larger the grips are compared to the old one...

The whole head is beefy and stout..

Same width as the old one but only more burly and robust.

                              Head block

The head block is a 2 piece design.
I really like the 2-piece design as it makes maintenance such as changing spindles much easier!

                              Spindle and dampers

The new spindle is locked in place and is prevented from rotating when the spindle bolts are tightened.
Now I can tighten and remove the bolts easily with just a single hex driver on one side.
The old one will require 2 hex drivers, 1 on each side of the blade grip to loosen the bolts.

Note the new dampers. Wider, thinner and stiffer than the old ones.

                              Spindle

The new spindle is 8mm instead of 6mm in the old head. There have been reports of bent spindle during flight with the 6mm one. But no way would anyone bend this 8mm spindle during flight!

The mixing arms are now on the blade grips instead of on the flybar carrier.
                              The phasing is fixed now.

                              Swash

The swash is brand new too. The bearings are larger and allow for greater deflection. The swash can do 90, 120 and 135 degree CCPM. I am opting for the 135 degree setup.

                              Center hub and Flybar Cage
