    Dear Mr Adrian Lee

Thank you for your email of 26 Feb 07.

2 PUB has just started to open up the waterways & reservoirs for
recreational activities. Therefore, we would need to take a more cautious
approach when allowing activities in the reservoirs as we are particularly
concerned about the safety of the users in the reservoirs where there are
tidal gates, pumping stations, spillways and motorised vessels etc. As
such, proper planning and assessment of the impact of the activities on the
reservoirs and its surrounding areas, and also user safety would have to be
carried out before allowing the activities in the reservoirs.

3 We are currently working with our watershed manager to designate an
area for radio control motor boating at Lower Seletar Reservoir. One
possible site which we are exploring is next to the MRT track at Lentor
Avenue as shown in the attached plan . This area, which would be developed
as an extension to the existing park is chosen because of its accessibility
to public transport near Lentor Avenue, car park facility at the nearby
sports stadium / housing estate, and toilet facility at the existing park.
It also fits well into the theme of the park -- A Family Bay. The
upgrading of the park is expected to be completed by 2008/2009. We are
also looking into the feasibility of allowing such activity at Lower
Seletar Reservoir next to Seletar Club Road. As an interim arrangement,
we would allow the radio control motor boating activity be carried out at
the reservoir next to the MRT track.

(See attached file: Proposed Radio Control Motor Boating Site at Lower
    Seletar Res.ppt)

4 Alternatively, you may wish to consider carrying out the radio
control motor boating activity at the Punggol Pond. PUB is also exploring
to allow radio control motor boating activity at Sg Mandai Kechil Pond at
Woodlands Central Road, Pandan Reservoir and Bedok Reservoir.

5 We seek your understanding on PUB's approach in opening up our
reservoirs and waterways for water activities as safety of all users of the
reservoirs and waterways and impacts on the reservoirs and environment are
our top priority concerns. If you need further clarifications, please feel
free to contact me at Telephone Nos 67313536.

    Regards.

Boating @ Lower Seletar Reservoir II

    Hi guys,

After a lengthy dicussions, emails flying here n there, PUB gona build something for all electric boaters at lower seletar reservoir wif a carpark for u guys easy access to the boating area. Do expect an area of abt 200 by 100m for running of ur speedsters.

HZM, if u reading tis, pls join tis thread wif the previous one : http://www.daddyhobby.com/forum/showthread.php?t=22785
Sorry for any extra bandwith taken up.

Here is the email reply :

    Dear Adrian

Thank you for your email of 19 Oct 2007.

Under our ABC (Active, Beautiful & Clean) Waters Programme, Lower Seletar Reservoir will soon be transformed into a more conducive community space
for public enjoyment . As this project involves many stakeholders, we would
need close liaison and consultation with them to make the programme a
    success.

Under this programme, radio control boating area and a car park will be
provided at the MRT side. The tender will be called in early 2008. Besides
building these facilities, the project also includes the upgrading of the
Lower Seletar Reservoir Park. Hence, it would take slightly more than a
year to complete the entire construction work, which is scheduled for
    completion in 3rd Qtr 2009.

Once again, thank you for your feedback and we would appreciate your
understanding in the matter. Please do not hesitate to get in touch with us
if we can be of further assistance.

    Manager
    Catchment & Waterways Department

I believe the wait should be worth it. There should be proper stands n launching area. I'm awaiting the blue prints for the area too.

Just received an update from PUB today.

As for Lower Seletar Reservoir, we have completed the construction of the launching platform for the remote control electric boat activity and are finalising some details. The site should be able to open up to public in a few months time.

I was caught by PUB officer last Sat when I tried to run my boat at Upper Seletar Reservoir. I was there at 7am and kena stopped + hand over NRIC. now waiting for summon letter lor. So I wrote in to appeal first before summon arrive at my letterbox. Damn those PUB officers, so early there already. My only defence is my boat not yet touch the water(I was taping the boat when I was stopped) and there is no signboard stating "No r/c powerboat". First time kena handover NRIC. Last time at different places, only verbal warning.

Further to their reply after I "suan" them a little bit.

The construction of the launching platform for the remote control electric boat activity at Lower Seletar Reservoir has already completed. The launching platform is located at Rowers’ Bay (after the Lower Seletar dam and adjacent to Seletar Club Road). We are currently finalising some details before opening up the place to public for the remote control electric boat activity. By then, you will have a place in the north to enjoy your electric boat. Meanwhile, I seek your patience and understanding on this.
