    Blade Tracking

    Hi guys

I am having problems tracking my main blades ever since i bought a second hand bling head for my BeltCP...

i was wondering what could be the problem. Half turn too much, half turn too little. My blades are always out of track by at least half an inch!

I was thinking maybe the blade grips could be bent. Does bling blade grips get bent easily? BeltCP owners? Any comments?

Main shaft is new. Feathering shaft looks straight (at least when i roll it on table it's straight...)

    IS your blade balanced?

          hi....

i faced the same problem that you are facing now previously...

did a lot of trial and error like turning the linkage left and right untill loss count.... change the blade grips, spindle shaft, balance the blades again and again until at one point wanted to give up....

but there is one last thing i never thought it will help that is by inter changing the blades ie left goes to the right and vice versa..... wah to my surprise it really tracks perfect everytime i fly....

for me the only bling i have on my belt cp is the swashplate and mixing arm sliding block the rest is all standard stock plastic parts..... also i am using 325mm carbon blades from rotor.... have done like 15 over flights and the blades still tracks perfect....

          just sharing my experience....

i'm actually concerned the seller may have damanged/bent the bling head so little i can't see so hopefully i can test by flying and return if there's problem asap you see.. but i cant single out the problem unless i get some experienced feedback

                Hi Justin,

The Belt CP metal head requires to be built up as a full metal head, i.e: metal central rotor mast with Metal blade grips.
I have seen countless "semi" metal heads i.e: Plastic central rotor mast with metal blade grips and not a single one of them allows the blade to track.
I suspect the Metal head parts were not designed to fit with the plastic parts.

In a nut shell, ...For the Belt CP, if you want to go metal on the head, go FULL metal otherwise remain FULL plastic.

                Cheers !

check that the hub is not out of plane, or twisted.

I can only think of 3 things:

                        1) Metal head assembled wrongly or some spacer/washer left out.

                        2) The O-ring damper is too soft / worn out / left out.

                        3) Somewhere on the metal head got bent.

One last thing ! .....Ignore this if your flybar is new (Neber crash b4) ......If your flybar has been in a crash before, try changing a new one to see if it will cure the problem .....the flybar has to be arrow straight (like the feathering shaft) otherwise it'll cause problems that hard to rectify !

                        Cheers !

                          Heres it:

Main shaft, feathering shaft and flybar is new

                          blade grip assembly sequence

                          bolt - t. bearing cap - bearing - t. bearing cap - washer - ball bering - ball bering - stepped washer - o ring - center hub

damper too soft? hmmm... i'll check that laters

                            my take:

get a friends carbon blade, try it and see. I never had any luck with wooden blades to track, only with carbon blades.

Otherwise, come to Punggol and check with Ghostfit, his belt cp is the only 1 I ever see having wooden blades that tracks.
Stop looking for a gyro in my plane, they are all in the head.

today at the field several other witnesed my tracking problem. we went thru the entire pitch setting, made sure both blades are +10 and -10 on extreme ends, and 0deg at midstick. the moment i spooled up, the blades were more than 1 inch off track. it's not like it's 0.5 cm off track. i could live with that...

i put back my plastic head and everything was back in track.

i suspect either the center hub or blade grip is bent.... THANKS to a SELLER who was not HONEST with his sales...
