No time to fix the nose, just want to get it in the air cos airtime is limited. Will fix it for next fly-in. Amazing isn't it the CG was way out, yet it flies...that's the electrajet for you guys.
didnt noticed it if u dont mentioned!

          To : Plug&Fly,

your reply was very helpful to me. Thanks! Think i will call up Jet to reserve it or something. Did u have any issues with the warped wing?

            Warp wing P-51

Mine was a little warp when out of the box.
EPP foam that the P-51 is made of is like that: flexible and very sentitive to heat and pressure. So it is extremely difficult to get a perfectly straight kit.

This was what I did to restore the wing/fuse to the straightest possible:

            1. Before assembly, use a hair dryer on the bent parts for a couple of minutes, then using the good old Mk I eyeball and manually flex it as straight as possible.

            2. During assembly make sure to glue/epoxy the provided rod onto the wings groove and flex the wing such that it conforms to the straight carbon rod. You may need to find a way to hold the wing/carbon rod in position until the glue/epoxy set.

            3. I added carbon strips to the fuse from the nose to 3/4 of the length. During the joining of the 2 fuse halves, I constantly eyeball the assembly to ensure they don't get distorted...good lighting helps... need lots of patient too...

            4. The tail stabilisers are problematic too, getting them glued aligned again requires patience and resilience. Also I modded and gave it about 4-5mm of down elevator incidence (a friend in an earlier build mentioned the main wing has a large incidence aka GWS Zero syndrome, and always ballooning up when throttled)

I managed to get everything straight and true (at least according to my not-so-high standard) and was rewarded with a very smooth flying mustang. Maiden was unevenful other than a few clicks on the TX to get it flying straight.

Everything went well for the next few outings until I left the plane in the car under the hot sun... MAN the plane almost became Frankenstein the fuse near to tail twisted about >5 degrees and the whole fuse also bent.. Back home out came the hair dryer again.. Lesson learnt if needed to be left in car make sure the Wing-Fuse is detached and place in the car such that there is no force imposed on the foam structure..

Had a bad crash last weekend at Punggol. Full nose-in, minor damage to fuse, dislodge wing, dislodge right ailreon, broken prop. The plane was repaired using CA in 40min. This is one tough bird.. Its GWS compatible would have exploded into a hundred pieces.

            Hope the info is useful.

            AUW: 550g with 3S 1500mAh
Motor: Himaxx 2025-4200 BL with alum gearbox, 9x7.5 APC
Flight time : 10 min with proper throttle management

My P-51 will fly again this SAT. mua..ha..ha..

            Cheers

Bro Leon what do u mean by added carbon strips to the fuse from the nose to 3/4 of the length? Is it after glue the fuse and add carbon strip below the belly.

                    Epp P-51

                    Refer to the pic.

Possible but not easy to do a belly style reinforcement given the P-51's pot belly and the way the main wings are attached to the fuselage.

My P-51 had 5 major crashes (countless hard landings though) in total I finally wrote it off after the motor mount foam area became soft like mash potato after too much repairs.

The critical mod however is the wing incidence angle/ elevator mod to get the plane flying though.

At $45 its quite a good deal of fun.

                    Cheers,
                    Leon
