    Spektrum DX7 questions?

    1. DX7 heli mode1 - Why the Aux2 switch and gear switch are on the left and right respectively? It is funny that the Aux2 switch is on the left but the trim is on the right. Whereas mode 2 is the other way, both Aux2 switch and trim are on the right together. Also, the Flap switch is on the right but the flap trim is on the left in mode1.

    2. What are the relationship of the signals in the Programe MIX (1-6) namely,

    Rate, offset, subtrim, travel adjust and +/- direction.

    If you notice, there is a DX7 Airplane Mode 1 that the flap sw is on the left side and Aux 2 is on the right. That the reason why they have Airplane and Heli Dx7.

      I thought DX7 mode1 only heli version is available in Spore.
      Is there a preference for mode1 heli that the phase switch is on the right? If not, Spektrum could have kept all the switches at same location as in mode2 heli but just swap the throttle and elevator sticks. or program the two rocker trims follow the mode1 Aux2 and Phase switches location. So that the ergonomics is as logical as in the mode2 heli.

      btw, the AR6100 work very well.

        Yap. It only Available Mode 1 Heli Version in Singapore. Airplane Mode have not arrive yet. I also don't understand why spektrum want to make it such as Heli and Air version sw in a different position. It make some people confuse.

              More about Pmix not mentioned in the manual

              The signal relation ship in the program mix, I figured it out as,

              Pmix 5 and 6,
              MastStickInput* MastDualRate* MastTravelAdjust*MixRate -> SlaveServoOutput

              Pmix 1-4,
              MastStickInput* MastDualRate* SlaveTravelAdjust*MixRate -> SlaveServoOutput.
              SlaveTravelAdjustAux2 has no influence



              * the % will change the weightage of the Stickinput(Low=-1 center=0 high=+1) to the servo
              + Will shift the full range of the servo moment but not just the center position only. e.g. Servo move from -95% to +85% at first, after adding in subtrim +25%, servo will move from -70% to +110%.

                      Poor arrangement

                      As you can see from the graph,
                      X-axis is the Master Stick position from Down/Left(-100%), Center(0%) & UP/Right(+100%), and Y-Axis is the Slave Servo.

                      The Offset is determined the "new" Stick position where Servo Arm is at the center. Hence, it changes the master stick stroke (U and D) from the "new" center. Furthermore, the Servo outputs (UP/Right and Down/Left) are not only determined by Rate but also the Offset.

                      For example,

                      Master = Throttle, Slave = Gear
                      Offset = 50%
                      Rate = 100% & 50%


                      Servo = 100% *(100%-50%) = 50% (up)
                      & 50% *(100%+50%) = 75% (Down)


                      If you change the offset = -50%, then

                      Servo = 100% *(100%+50%) = 150% (up)
                      & 50% *(100%-50%) = 25% (Down)


                      Thus, those % that you key are not represent the servo output at all
                      What I need is the full range of the slave servo movement remain at 150%, where the offset just shift the range but not to modify the range with such a funny logic.

                          Some interesting findings,
                          We select Pmix 5 or 6 when we need the trim to affect both Master and Slave servos. However, the Master Travel Adjust will also affect the Slave servo (something not nice in DX7).
                          Just found out when you activate the Flaperon, the affect of the Travel Adjust is gone! Other then the trim, they are as in Pmix 1-4.

                            Found this while searching for help in setting up the DX7 for a 4-servo wing. Even though the TX is listed as a JR XP7202, it has the same program as the DX7. Even though there's quite a lot of mixing to do, I think it serves the basic functions sufficiently.

                              There's another site that shows the same 4-servo setup, but I was lost inbetween. Perhaps someone can have a better understand than me.
