    Hi Art,

Just out of curiousity, what right do RMS and PPFC have for getting their permission before we fly ? If we pay $20 to RMS, do they insurance us from any accident ? And where do PPFC fly ?

RMS, PPFC and BBFC "owned" and maintain their own flying field. So need their ok.

RMS $20 fee is for day membership. Day membership allows the use of field and comes with 3rd party insurance for that day.

But then RMS would only allow 29mhz right?

And would it too far for those who dun drive there?

We had ways to get around this

If the response to RMS is positive, we will probably "negotiate" with related party to see how we can work out the $ issue.

Main objective is for DH members to exposure to different facility.

              Cheers

Spoke to Mok(President of RMS) yesterday regarding using their field. He told me Warbird spoke to him too, and RMS exco decided not to let out their field for outside events. The reason cited was they have a limited flight time. RMS field operating hours are on Sat after 3pm and Sundays/public holidays whole day.

                Maybe should try PP.

                  Hi X34,

                  this is not correct.
The exco agreed to host a warbird meet cum scale competition beginning of next year. The field will be open to all pilots who would like to attend the event, members or not.
My guess is that Mok confused the Warbird meet with the Daddyhobby Megameet discussions I had with him separately before.

U might have miss my point.

THey are not willing to LET out their field for DaddyHobby warbird Mega meet.

They had a scale competition beginning this year. And they are planning for one early next year. The challenge will be to get them to reduce their day membership fees. The competition is for members only and free. To participate, u have to be at least a day member.

                      X34,

These are two absolutely independent points:

                      1. ANY flyer in SIN can attend a Warbird meet / Scale competition hosted by RMS. The competition is therefore not for members only.

                      2. RMS is looking at a 20S$ "day membership fee" (for the lack of a better word) to cover certain expenses for the use of the facilities (example: insurance) and as Mike already mentioned there are ways to address this "day membership fee" of 20S$.

Therefore: why don't we first look at the response / location independent of the variables which might or might not apply.

                        Warbird,

Before a non-member can take part, the person have to join as a day member first. Therefore, the event is for ordinary members and day members only.

My discussion with Mok, is to waive the requirement for non-members to become day members to take part in the event. But to charge a reasonable amount for event entry fee.

                        I hope this clears up.

To be honest, I would like to fly and meet different people at Tuas flying site, especially with an old club like RMS. However, I think RMS should only charge on the basis of getting insurance, food and drinks and should treat the whole event as an affiliation programme with people outside the club. Ultimately, this is a hobby, where skills and ideas are exchange, not charge. Remember we are not talking about an exclusive country club.

Back to day members charges for flying maintence, I'm totally disagree. First of all, not much maintenance are require as this is a public area. All users just need to be more responsible when they are at the field, i.e. pick-up own's broken prop, left no balsa trash around - even when you are upset about a crash and etc. As for the airspace, no delegate airspace has been permanently allocate to any club, it has to be based on request a month prior. Therefore, they should not charge also.

For the competition and etc, I can agree that they can charge whatever they want because it takes money and manpower to organise this.

hmmm... adding my 2 cent's worth on RMS's 'field maintenance' - no, it's NOT public land... it's STATE land that the club has to pay for. (an annual rental to the land office). The other area of maintenance is the grass cutting every month (we're talking about a 150mx15m runway) plus periodic filling & levelling of the runway so that it doesn't turn (back) into a swamp when it rains!
So far, I think it's the best grass field for Warbirds; gentle & flat enuff for a nice roll-out, and if u DO nose over, it won't break your prop!

Just a Hypothetical question..... after a non-member paid the S$20 day membership fee for insurance cover and so on for any Daddyhobby Mega Meets held at RMS, and if he crash his plane/heli and caused damage to public/private property, but if he is not on the legal 29mhz frequency, would THAT insurance still cover it?
