Spy ware plus dunno what got me....my user profile is lost...I'm locked out...used adaware to scan registry and came out twith many many dunno whats....my virus scan identified some trojans also...what should I do next?!

Hey man, thats what happen to me 1 month ago...... spyware / trojan which open ur backdoor is pretty common now. I formatted my HD 4 times! Finally, got to install ZONEALARM personal firewall then solve the prob....... phew.....

will installing a firewall mean that i wouldn't be able to send and receive files from friends and connect to games?

as long as you know how to configure them properly.

If you don't know... you will either end up with a firewall that locks EVERYTHING away (nothing works)
..or...
a firewall that doesn't work at all (allows everything through)

..

Using default configuration is not 100% safe too. If you don't know about firewall... best is... use those "firewalls for dummys"... like Norton Internet Security.. which it wiz everything up for u... But it is still not 100% fool proof.... but good enough to prevent most attempts.

If u want to get mac.... I rather u go Linux instead.

U get Linux and u still can use either VMware to run Windows or use Wine or Crossover to run those windows apps.

Heck... Linux even got more computer games (UT2k4 is one of them) than mac.
