    Frequency

    Hi All

Need your expertise advice for new bird like me:

    1) What's the legal frequency to use in S'pore?

    2) If not using the legal frequency, what will happen?

    3) If I am using a 72MHz, is it safe to fly? Any interference?

    4) Is it better to change the tx module to a legal frequency? How much (I am using a Futaba 8U)?

    Thanks a million

    Hi

I think majority of us do not use Singapore legal frequency. It is ok so far.

    There is 25Mhz, 35Mhz, 40MHz and 72MHz.

25MHz might be too close to those ham radio or those older type of taxi radio. I think Marine radio is in that range also.

35MHz is close to some analog cordless phone but I think it is Singapore not approve type of cordless phone.

40MHz is also close to analog cordless phone also (Singapore approved type) but I think it is safe because most cordless is in 45MHz.

    72MHz.....Hmmm... not sure.

Be remember that even u transmit at 35MHz (e.g.), u also transmitting other frequency also (DAMN!! Can't remember the name!). It is 1x, 3x, 5x frequency but the wattage is very low.

      Hi Super Hornet

Thanks for the quick and good advice. If thats the case, I will stick to my original 72MHz. Change this, change that, wallet really flat liao! Can't wait to take off the bird but now still struggling on the setup. I am glad to find this web as ppl here really share good experiences.

      Happy Flying!

            Hi Super Hornet

I have just bought a used Raptor V1 and this bird has really impressed me when I started few yrs ago but stop due to work. Me family man so cannot spend too much! There will be few more things like gyro, blades, mufflers, necessary accessories before I take off!

Where do you guys normally fly? BTW, I stay in Woodlands and I normally go to Yishun to see them fly.

            Thanks

              Hey ande02

72's good in that you can get a fantastic range of receivers tuned on 72.

Especially the better ones like the new Bergs, they are available on the other frequencies but i understand buying them would be problematic at best.

so definately no harm staying with that.

              72's illegal though !

it's not a really big issue on it's own though i can imagine you would be subjected to all form of extra liabilities if something does go wrong, like if someone complaints that you hit their car with your model, you smash into a building, wounded their pet, killed their child with your heli etc. As far as the law go you'd look like some newage radiowave pirate and be branded some sort of telecommunication terrorist etc .

So it might not be a bad idea to have a 29 module and rx for that reason alone

perhaps you could look around and see if anyone's got some second have stuff as far as that goes.

Hi, you are welcomed to join us at yishun. there are people flying there almost everyday but most popular is still sat and sun afternoons. since you have been dropping by to watch, think you should be pretty comfortable with how everyone flies there. Takes some time to break the ice but overall everyone is very pleasant.

hi ande...welcome to the nitro and raptor loving group here. so far the only problem i've seen with 72 is that stuff like crystals are slightly more expensive. the police have recently requested that ALL r/c radios be licensed by the IDA(infocom authority or something). the cost of the license is $24.90. and without a doubt, they'll only allow 29mhz. certain flying clubs like the rich man's club aka RMS require you to have the license before joining. from what i know from friends, when you go there, all transmitters are impounded until your frequency is clear. flying on other freq seems to be fine so far. the police would not purposely ask you to produce a license, as they know so many ppl did not get one before the laws were enforced.(officer ownself tell me and friend). i personally fly on 36mhz, because that freq is usually rare and noone uses that in our group at bukit panjang.

eh jali, can i join you guys this weekend? how do i go? if you're coming to work can tompang?

Normally, flyers start arriving after 12 on sun.
For saturday, i'm not too sure about heli flyers, usually i'm the only one, the rest plankers. But sunday confirm have heli flyers around, with scale if lucky.

jaZallo, where do you fly in Woodlands? I notice that along Ave1 (quite near to the private estate after Esso), there seems to have a big open field which you can see when you turn into Ave 2 from BKE, do you think we can fly there?

Those on this thread, can you tell me where do you fly so can pop-in to see?
