    DC Adapter for Apache2030

    Hi,
Anyone using Apache2030 charger? May I know what power adapter are you using? I know you will need 12V (4-5A) but I do not want those that requires me to make additional interface from the charger? I would like buy those off-the-shelve and do not require to make any modifications. Plug it straight to the adapter and use.

Appreciate if you can advise me where to get, brand and cost?

    Thx in advance
    Kk

A decent notebook 12V adaptor does the job. I am using one for my Triton

      Hi mike,
So you created an interface for your usage? Where did you got yours? Roughly how much, if you still remember.

I try going down to Sim Lim Tower, try a few 12V dc power adapter with 5A, 8A and even 10A but my 2030 still got the CGR/ERR red light flashing. No battery was connected to it so cannot be battery problem.

        DC Power

        Get a regulated power supply.
The error could be due the over voltage from the unregulated supply.
May be over 16V with no load.

        I am using a notebook adaptor rated 13.8V 2.5A for my 2030.
Got it from SLT for $18.

        Thanks

Did u get those variable voltage adaptor? U just need to physically measure the output voltage. We do know that those variable voltage adaptor get 15-16V when it is set at 12V

            Hi mike,
Actually it's not those variable voltage adaptor. If not wrong, the brand is NewStar and only have one 12V output and 5A, 8A or 10A.

almtmd, can you kindly, advise me which shop and brand is your adaptor? I did went down and saw a few but do not dare to buy. Afraid its going to be waste of money so posted this thread to find out who had used it and was successful.

I bought this charger for a couple of weeks and have not been able to get it working .... ..... feel its a waste of time and money ....

Kk, George would contact almtmd tomorrow and provide the information to you.

I believe that you would still have to cut the cable to make an interface suitable for the charger and the adaptor. If you want to continue using the 'crocodile clips' for outdoor charging, I suggest that you cut the input wire on the charger. Make an interface on the charger to suit the interface of the power adaptor. And at the same time, make another interface on other end of the 'crocodile clips' wire (cut from the charger). This interface should be the same as the power adaptor.

Feel free to contact me if you have any problems with the above.

                  Regards,
                  mack

They do have a 'regulated' power supply, meaning the output voltage is quite constant. The 1 you bought might be an 'unregulated' type.

Thanks for all your advise, think I have to make another trip down to SLT. Maybe, 1-2 weeks later from now, don't have the time .....

                        Hi all,
Just to update and share the information. Just came back from SLT (3 level) and happily bought a power adaptor which works on my Apache2030. It may not be the cheapers because do not want to spend time walking around and trying out.

                        Power Adaptor:
Brand: AMBIT Microsystems Corporation (Make in Taiwan)
                        Output: 12Vdc (3.2A)
                        Price: S$35

Hope this will help those having the same problem as me.
But do try it on the spot because I can't guarantee it will work for all.

                        Cheers

Any idea if the above can be used for my T10?

                          Thanks
