Close Call with Neigbour Dogs going Freebies (Dragonfly) Catch

Today I have a close call with neigbour dogs (Very Cute one!!)going to do freebies catching onto my Dragonfly.

I was practisting Side Angle Hover and a bit of circuit loop at my block's void deck, then suddenly 2 of my neighbour dogs chase after my DFly and one of then tries to go and bite it. I quickly power down (luckily it is only 1 to 2 feets high) and that scared the hell out of the dogs. The dog stunt (So do I) and then run back to the owner. Luckily the 2 ladies owner looks friendly enough. One of then even laught out and said to the other female that the dog attracted to it and it sounds like vacuum cleaner.

Oh.. my DFly is now use for my practising purpose. It uses Mabuchi 370 Motor for main and CDROM motor for tail. I use GWS PG-03 gyro with Revo Mixing from TX.

haha man it's a good thing you were quick on the sticks and the
dog didnt try grabbing your fp while it was spinning man !

imagine the mess with the teeth and gums flying all around man shit it'll be the greatest horror of horrors for the poor dog .

why dont you get a cdrom motor for the front also? then you'll have the ultimate and unlimited play zero wear practise machine

i feel bad flying my feda now because i feel each time i do i'm killing it's motors almost like it's too precious to fly how ironic !

Hey Derrick. I was more concerning of hurting the cute dog than on my DFly. If I do injured the dog, then ppl will start complaing liau.

As for the CDROM motor for main, well, initially it was Himax HA2015-4100 but I already transfer to my Hornet II. I do have one partial completed CDROM motor but I don't think I have time to complete it for the main motor. I still got 1 extra Mabuchi motor right now so wait till I have time then I build it.

yeah i was thinking the same

the heli is so strong it wont be affected for sure.

        the dog though hmmm

damn man after reading your post i went to fly my feda , and it flew so well ! and so now i'm wodnering why the hell i paid 360 for the hornet

think i might even start a new thread on it ! somehow feel so annoyed that my feda flew so well !

how do you mount the cdrom motor into the heli?isit that you break your crrom apart, ripped the motor that spins cdrom and mount it into your dfly? how abt the small motor? isit that motor that opens and closes the cdrom tray?

            Hi Plasma

Nowadays u only find 1 brushless motor in CDROM Drive. Yes, u dismantle the CDROM Drive to take out the brushless motor. U rework the motor. Recoil or not depend on the characteristic of the stock CDROM Motor. If weak, yup u need recoil. U also have to modify the mounting and also the shaft.

There are so many CDROM Drive model and brand in the market. If u can find one with small size, then u can use it for tail motor. Else u end up to have tail too heavy.

The Tray Open/Close motor is not brushless. It is a weak brushed motor.

cool. i din know we can use CDROM motors in heli. btw how do you recoil a motor? just buy some wire and replace the current coil but with much more turns?

                Hi Plasma

There are sooo many information regarding CDROM modification in the net.

                Here is the quick info:
More turns = More torque but slower speed and draws lesst current.
Less turns = More RPM but less torque and also draws more current.
Delta Configuration will have higher speed than Star but lesser torque.
Thicker wire = More torque but more current. (I think this is true)
Normally 20 Turns will be good enough but sometime u need to go 10 Turns. It all depends on trail and error. Some even change the magnet to a stronger for more RPM and Torque also. (I think more on RPM)

Stronger magnet gives you more torque but there's a limit, as the stronger the magnet, the higher the current required
