    Charging SLA batts

    hello there all!

this post is regarding sealed lead acid batts and i need ur help on this..

besides using high tech chargers like triton & tahmazos to charge lead acid batts, are there specific charger to charge SLA batteries or a normal charger that has an output of 12V is sufficient?

i intend to get SLA batts for my field box and the charger as well jus in case the SLA goes flat.

    thanks for ur input!

Yes, you can get a Lead Acid charger from SLT for <$30. 12V or 6V 2A output.
For some people it's important to show what they have, for others it's sufficient to know that they have it.

      oh, ok..

it has to be a charger for just SLA only and not those general purpose chargers? is this true?

Document on how much voltage do you need to charge a battery.

                      eagle,

thanks for the documentation.. so i assume, this applies to any battery in the market?

Yes you are right. But remember, each battery type has different cut off voltage during charging. That's the reason why you need to properly select the right battery type in your chargers before you start charging your battery.

By the way, I am selling a Ppwer Supply Units for RC Chargers. THe input voltage is 110/220Vac and the output is 13.2Vdc, 13Amps just nice for any RC Charger. It you want more feedback about the performance of my charger, you can PM Birds or Membina from this forum or refer to the link below.

THe article on the batt charging calculations is very informative, unfortunately, some of the perimeters needed for the calculation is not easy to obtain accurately.

From work done by others, to charge SLA, the recommendation is to charged it at less than 0.5c.
