Scary Hornet Death Dive glitching sydrome

Something very very nasty seems to have gotten to my heli.

I have started to experience major scary CP dives of death glitching at certain power settings though my esc.

It'll be flying or hovering real nice and it'll go whoosh 4 feet or so straight down like i've never seen it drop before.

even while i was guiding it neatly into the ground when i tried to loop, it didnt drop so fast.

    held it in my hand:
while at certian power settings i find the pitch glitches reallly bad for no reason.

Took cover off: while messign with battery mount i had pulled my esc so it was slanted on the hornet. previously it was 90 degrees to the tail boom. i straightened it and it seemed to improve.

Went fly it again and it came right back anyway.no crashing though some really really scary moments.

Anyone got any idea what could have gotten my esc to misbehave so bad?

I made up a cock mismatched 3 cell with some real old kokams and plugged it in. spooling up caused some bad kicking around could that have caused my ics300 to spoil ? hovered it for about 15seconds on that pack

that's the only thing i can think of, plugging 12 volts into it. Then again fit has been doing it without problems

damn tried another ics300 from my gws A10 same problem.

Fit's ICS300 has monster heat sinks..... Bon's using the biggest GWS-ESC and it also cuts...

-> I suspect the MS people build a natural jamming wave into the mechanics so the electronics will cut and SO we have to buy their one-way

Could be the FeiGao u are using ........

If it's a glitch u'll have to worry. If you're toking about the heli suddenly dropping in height it's normal although not desired...

      Hi all

I'm my previous Dragonfly avionic configuration (GWS receiver), I do encounter once in a while of sudden power cut-off! After I do some experiment on it, I suspect 2 things:
      1 - GWS RX sux!
2 - Your RX antenna (GWS in this case) is very position and lenght sensitive. If u going to run your RX antenna parallel to tail boom or parallel or very close to signal or power wire, your RX will pick up a lot of noise. Too much noise will cause your ESC to do split second cut off.

hey ray it's not a cut in power it's a collective glitch, the servos glitch.

I'm usign a nice big full size GWS 8 channel that has worked very well.

        till now...man...

and the esc that had 3s plugged into it doesnt seem otbe the problem as usingother gws ics escs produces the same problem.

hornet everything on my heli has been the same since i set it up, didnt change my antenna mounting or anything so i'm really quite mystified, i've not even experienced a normal glitch on this setup much less a chronic scary mama one like this

I'm actually thinking a problem might actually be the servo plugs being a bit loose, mgiht have gotten thrown loose during the 3s crazy horse kikcing starting up hmm that'll really be a small little issue bringin about soem serious problems.

If u do not do any changes in your avionic component... then it could be either or both:
1 - Servo gear lack of greese.
2 - One of your wire or connector broke in between.

            hey hornet

yeah i think ( and really hope ! ) it's just my conenctions beign shaken loose.

damn getting an axi system is just all so tempting now.
or at the very least a nice jeti brushed esc....hmmmmmmmmm

Hey... if u getting AXI, u know where to get those pinion? My friend is getting AXI for Hornet II but right now do not know where to get the pinion.

Hmmm like everyone says i guess, just get a decent 26 tooth 64 pitch rc car pinion.

damn for me i have a few 64 pitch pinons avalabel to me but they're all wayyyy too big .

he'll need to chop the frame too.

Hmm, can it be that ur rx is too close to ur esc or motor?
                  Failure is not final,
                  Success is never ending:
It is not the destination but the journey that matters.

                  Wadever the journey, keep flying!

                    Hey jon

Yup that would be an issue especially since the interference seems to be caused by the extra EM noise the esc's generating at partial throttle.

Thing is though it's been set up liek that since day 1 of the hornets life and even at my electromagnetic interference bonanza flyign field behind mgs it's been going very well.

wan me to say how many time? My throat getting sore. Neva mind, knock it down and give me 50 first .......

get from Tai Sing... Supplier for Tamiya.......

One pack has two.. u pay $15 i think..... It's in metric 64 pitch or something. get the 25 and 26 one.... metric 64 pitch is somewhat bigger than the 64p one... [or the other way round... can't remember which pinion is the metric one] just remember .. the tamiya ones having bigger pitch because of the metric/us difference.... not bad if it's for a one-way gear cos it's got lesser teeth....

So far, I also accountable glitching to the collective. I wasnt sure what causes it ...... I am on berg rx tho ...... thought is one of the batter one out there .......

Wahlau eh, its deja vu for me when you mentioned about a glitchy pitch. I encountered such stupid shit problems too when I started with the hornet. So damn frustrating at times in trying to figure the cause of it. Mine was also crazy, at times it will suddenly go into full negative pitch out of the blue and the whole pitch range seemed to have moved downwards.... that was really crazy and I thought my tx was screwed up or something
Managed to trace it down to a cold solder joint on the servo's circuit board.

If it only receives interference at certain throttle setting, it could be that the motor is arcing a lot at that rpm. Try changing to a new one and see if it goes away. Add more caps too...

Superhornet: I have a kawada 26t 64pitch pinion that I bought but didn't use. Its brand new. I'll let you have it for $9.
