There should be a valley inbetween the 2 clutch shoes. The spring is to be wrapped around them in this valley and hookes end-to-end. Doesn't it come with instructions? Quality control has gone south.

Hmmmm...I wonder why it's called racing. Still 2 piece shoe. Maybe becos of the extra holes.

OK, you can choose how early you want the clutch to be engaged by mounting on the different holes.
For some people it's important to show what they have, for others it's sufficient to know that they have it.

            Kawai........

Actually, HPI is a Japanese brand, like Tamiya.

Er...no pics in the instructions too?

Hehehehe....looks like you've been bitten by the hopping-up bug too.

You can get the instructions from the HPI UK site. The holes are where you can cut the clutch to control the pickup etc. I have mine cut in the middle hole and it seems to work well on grass.

I was thinking to put it in the middle hole as well...
In that site, they say to cut the clutch with a hobby knife. Do i realy have to cut it? I thot it could be reused..

Once you try out and make up your mind and cut, that will be it. So maybe you try out first without cutting and see if the thing can keep still at idle and if the acceleration is ok. But from mine, I had to cut out at the middle hole.

                            try this:

HPI originated in US by a Japanese (with an American?) and eventually, he expand his attention to Jap market. So some parts/kits are manufactured there
