have to know the internal ratio, spur gear size and stuff before knowing what pinion to use. like that not easy to tell you what to use

Follow the manual. Only problem is wat kind of pitch the spur gear has. Most probably cannot use Tamiya pinions. 48P then hor say liow. If some stupid USA 'we are best' pitch, then you have problem. Hopefully they include a couple of pinions for you to play play. :rolleyes:

in the spirit of experimentation, then i think you should try mod motor with different gearing and not go BL at the moment

there are many cheap motors out there. Like some team orions that BK is selling like $20+-. just use these as a way to gain the knowledge first lor.

how many cells to run depends on your esc as well. what voltage your esc is limiting too.

IMHO, buggies and trucks dun need great high end. They need more torque. Can always put in a 9 turn or 7 turn, it will still run but is using those low turn motor working on its full potential?

Ah, some explanation is in order.

I'm not souping up my T4 for a race. It's just that the places where I run it is usually flat and properly surfaced (tarmac, basketball court, void deck) so I just like to see the car go flat out. That's why I'm tuning for speed. If I can get easy access (read: got pte transport) to off-road tracks, I would configure my car differently, i.e., more torque, a little less speed for more control.

Am I right to think this way?

Also, is it possible to wire 2 7.2V stick batts together and terminate it in one connector? So, I will get...er...12 batts giving 14.4v? Donno anything abt electrical stuff, so just anyhow gasak. I guess may fry the electronics, huh?

I'm not souping up my T4 for a race. It's just that the places where I run it is usually flat and properly surfaced (tarmac, basketball court, void deck) so I just like to see the car go flat out. That's why I'm tuning for speed. If I can get easy access (read: got pte transport) to off-road tracks, I would configure my car differently, i.e., more torque, a little less speed for more control.

Am I right to think this way?

Also, is it possible to wire 2 7.2V stick batts together and terminate it in one connector? So, I will get...er...12 batts giving 14.4v? Donno anything abt electrical stuff, so just anyhow gasak. I guess may fry the electronics, huh?

Nope, MCR330 can go 6 -7 cells oni. For many cells, you need airplane type of ESC.

An example 'many cell' ESC is Jeti (http://www.espritmodel.com/accesories_jetiesc.html). Just look at the 77-0 Plus, 8 - 30 cells! But for some reason which I can't seem to understand, airplane ESC, while can take a wide range of voltage, seems to have very low amps when compared to car ESC's. The MCR 330 can take 200A.

What about those umlimited turns ESC like the quantum F1 or similiar? Can they use more cells?

Donno. XXX-4 G+ seems to be fixed at USD330. It appears to have been eclipsed by BK2 and T1R. FK05 is way too much car for just starting on touring.

*SIGH* Decisions decisions. XXX-4 G+ is expensive. In comparison, the Losi BK2 and Xray T1R are cheaper, abt USD240 and USD220 respectively.

I ask you all, holding price constant, which is a better buy, Xray T1R or Associated TC4?
