I would drill another damping hole as i find the stock (one hole only) abit too stiff.
Also as the 1/10 shock is a tad bit shorter then the original rear shock, I change the location of the rear shock mounting from the default hole.
so how much you paid for the shocks?

then cannot tell u about it leh....hehehehe. for brushless, i spend about 190 in all to get it to work, pinion and servo included
try the hop up motor, add more cells, that should help too

I guess max is abt 9V before i fry the ESC. Just did one short spin with it with fresh AA alkeline so that is abt 9 V and the speed sucks. No way it will jump.
Which brushless set up u went? I assume you had to change all the electronics meaning Reciever, ESC and Steering Servo.
190 isn't that bad if it was for the lot.

the BL came with the ESC at 165 (mamba 6800), the pinion i got for 1.80, the servo for $27.......rx i have extra liao. so it came to about 195 (sorry, not 190). battery i have lipo which i got from mack. but that was for my minizilla, so its a cost incurred long ago.
I started this car with fresh alkaline, dun last and freaking slow....

Can take 9.6V from a 8 cell pack. Faster, but cannot compare with BL. The X-Speed oni add <5kmh extra so I would not be bothered with it.

These are on-road shocks leh, not really suitable for buggy. Springs will be too hard. Maybe you can use back stock springs and see. Drilling another hole in the damper piston will certainly help to reduce shock firmness. Another way is to use lighter shock oil.

Yup if you look carefully i used back the original spring. But the rear is still too hard as the shock is now a tad shorter thus the spring are pre loaded. The front is fine as the stock spring up front are shorter. I believe using the stock front spring on the rear would solve the problem abit.
So still looking out for aftermarket spring that can fit the rear. WHS currently don't have any.. well don't have any that i can see anyway. Who know what lurks in the corner of her shop. Muahahahaaa..

how abt using GP rechargeable battery with 2500 mah?
will it cause better effect? i was using GP dry cell, the performance is ok lah, but cant jump
It's the voltage, not the amps. :L Using the GP rechargable will result in longer running time but even less power.
Longer becos it can store more juice, at 2500mA.
Less power becos total voltage for 4 batts is only 4.8V (1.2V x 4). The dry cells are more powerful as it has a total of 6V (1.5V x 4). Anyway, the discharge rate of AA rechargable is not high, so even if you have same voltage (5 cells x 1.2V) you might not have better punch.
I think a lot of ppl was dissappointed with the Half8 becos of this issue. Even with their so-called X-Speed motor, with the same cells, it's only 2kph extra! :down
A few solutions to make it faster.
1) Use 8 x 2/3A sized batts to make an 8-cell pack. You'll get 9.6V of power! :up She'll go in a hurry! Presently, I don't Know if any LHS sells this special pack but I made mine. Of course you can import (http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=2565&item=5973009698) a pack from HKG but total cost is not cheap, at USD$30. That's about $50. :z The 2/3A cells also has a much higher discharge rate, meaning it can dish out the juice that's store much faster. This translate to bigger punch. :up
2) Use a 2S LiPo. Not cheap also, can check with Mack for his 2S1P ETEC 1700. Bummer is you need a LiPo charger. :z 2S1P will give you 8.4V power.
3) This is the best, hehehehehe........go to BPP (http://www.b-p-p.com/products.php?cat=14) and order yourself a Mamba brushless system. About USD$100 a set. Now with free shipping for any order above USD$100. :D
With a Mamba Brushless system and any of the above batt configuration, your Half8 will be UNSTOPPABLE! :up :up :up
Hey, no one says that rc's cheap! :D

I assume dry cells are normal use and throw cells.
I was using Energizers for awhile and felt that it was rather "weak".
Then i made these.
http://photos6.flickr.com/11329232_75ec38a763.jpg
They do give out heaps more punch to the Mini Inferno.
Althought the voltage is lower, the Amp push out from these cells are alot more thus resulting in more punch. :up
ok i have a battery charger at home, so i bought the GP1800 to recharge lor.
i try to test it out 1st then see how

I don't really know or understand the science involved in a Electric Motor/ESC/Charger/Batts set up. (i like the smell of nitro more. :lip: )
I think (and this is pure speculation on my part) the punch comes from the ability for your cells to discharge. That is the amount of current the cells can pump out at one go. The more amps the more torque thus more punch.
I was told that the harder you charge your cells (ie at a higher amp aka quick charge) the bigger the amount of amps your cells can discharge. Thus you should set your charger amp as high as the temperature of your cells will allow you to.
that is what i always think so, till someone tell me otherwise.

Think you're right there but AA cells as a whole, still has dismal discharge rates. That's why even with 2500mA of storage capacity, you won't see ppl use AA rechargable cells to power their 1/10 EPs.
Not sure about your 'the more amps the more torque thus more punch' statement, though. IMO, it should be the higher the rate of amps discharged, the more torque thus more punch.

No matter how dismal the discharge rate of the AA are, They are heaps better the dry cells. Won't be able to load/fit 1/10 C cells on a half 8. So that was out of the question.
2/3A cells soldered in packs of 8 was an option i considered but the dicharge rate won't be much higher then AA. Also I had problem locating single cells in the 2/3A size. I could have gotten RX pack and rebuid them into 8 cells pack but that was not cost effective. I might try them if i can find some decent priced 2/3A cells of decent amps. Currently simlim sells gp one for 5 bucks each and they are onli 900mAh.
Does anyone know how are lipo's discharge rate compared to NiMh? Was told they dischagre at a much lower rate tht is why using them as Rx packs may not be good.

Yah, sub c cells are out of the question for H8. :)
I think the 2/3A discharge rate is not much higher than AA cells. KAN 1050 has 20A discharge rate while GP1100 apparently can go as high as 40A!
Yah, it IS a problem getting the 2/3 cells here. Anyway, if you are interested, I know X34 has some GP1100 cells to let go at $4 a piece. Dunno if he still has stock.
Else you can order some KAN1050 from ACW (http://aircraft-world.com/shopexd.asp?id=360) at USD$1.75 a piece. Small parcel post is USD$2.50 so it's not that bad.
LiPos, IMO, is very diverse in capacity and discharge. For example, the ETEC 2S1P 1250HP has a discharge rate of 10 - 12C continuous, and 20C surge. That's 12.5A - 15A continuous and 25A surge.
Just be careful when you get LiPo, dimension is a very important consideration. Currently there's no standard so LiPos come in various sizes, so getting one that fits into the batt compartment of the H8 is very important.
Cheers!

Given the cost of the 2/3A it would be better off the buy lipo packs instead. The kyosho 2/3A pack is SGD 96.00 each. You be better off getting 2S2P of 1700mAh....must longer runs and more POWER.

I got my goot from Sim Lim Towers.
this is what i got/use.
Goot 80Watts soldering iron.
Goot Flux/Grease.
No brand solder.
No brand Soldering iron stand with Sponge. The sponge is useful to clean the tip off. Make sure the sponge is wet 1st. LOL.

I got put cone. When I turn always need to go away form the cone about 1m. Multi storey carpark some the ground is abit like tarmac. Very rough. the top level usually is rough but the bottom level can drift.

depend on you lor. u find a slowing speed which u are comfortable with lor.
It;s like driving a real car lor. I have friends who drive LSV during army. They speed 100 plus then make some silly turns in australia. it;s all about controlling speed lor. i think it;s the same for your r/c
