Digital SLR camera.... any good?

It had been my school day hobby playing w camera. First was a NIKON FM2, then sold away. Got a NIKON F601, again sold away after quite a while, went back FM2, sold away again, got a F601 again till now ...... sigh ....

Think of putting up my Hornet for sale and raise some fund for the NIKON D70 or D100 ...... just want more memory of my family and friends ....... just like what my dad had done so.....

Hmmm..... how abt we post so old photos of our self?

Found SLR too heavy for me after I got kids.
Sold my F90x + blink blink.. and got a "stupid camera". Never regreted.

I understand where you are comming from mike ..I too still have a pentax z70 with about 5 lenses at home ( one very high tech one too 70-350 auto zoom worth about 1k!!! ) but since I got my olympus ultra zoom I have no need for the SLR. It has a 10 times optical zoom on it better then what I had on the SLR ..pic quality could be better for sports shots ( this is its down point not a good spots camera) but for a old SLR junki I cant put down the small digital and its so convient for traveling rather then taking the big camera with me.

so I agree with nic get a good small camera rather then a SLR as you dont need the competition quality lenses and a good 4/5 meg with a good lense like the sony is more then enought for a shutter bug

Oh boy....... but I do miss those manual foucs and exp compensation SLR providing. I do understand some digital camera does allow compensation but sunset and night scene is my favourite
