Just checking, how many people out there actually have BL setup on your Minizilla?

Wanna know what's your motor and ESC combination, pinion setup, cell count, and your avg run time. :)

Thanks.

oi, how much was your Mamba ESC? What's your run time like?

Total cost of the Mamba system was about S$180 inc. shipping. Take note that you also have to change your servo, and RX. The motor is too powerful, I already busted one servo. I haven't got a chance to really test out the run time or max speed. Not time at the moment. Hopefully, today I can do it.

i got a rated 6.0kg high torque servo for steering...enuff? :L

Keep me updated to about the run time. :)

So it wasn't free shipping huh? :(

What is the kv of the brushless? :sneaky:

Wah........FAST! :z :z :z I was kind of deciding between 4200 or 5400 coz I've got a Duratrax Mini Quake too. And future MiniZilla. :sneaky:

6.0Kg is more than enuf for your MiniZilla. The good thing abt the Zilla is you can use a standard sized servo, so a standard Hitec 425 like servo is already 'high torque' for MiniZilla. :)

Got this quote from BPP in relation to Mini-T. Hope it helps. They sort of recommended lower Kv BLs for MT application.

Mamba 3600 - High Torque Low RPM motor. This motor is the perfect choice for high cell counts and for MiniT's running large tires or monster truck conversions. Use 7-13 cells or 3-4 li-poly cells.

Mamba 4200 - excellent mix of Torque and Speed. Extremely versatile as this motor will yield stock speeds with low cell counts yet simply adding more cells will greatly increase speeds without fear of damaging the motor. Use 5-12 cells or 2-4 Li-poly cells.

Mamba 5400 - High Speed motor while still retaining excellent torque, this motor will be one of the most popular due to its greater speed on lower cell counts. Be sure to take advantage of this motors power by using a 16-19t pinion and 58t spur when using 2 cell li-poly packs or 6 or less Nimh cells. Use 5-10 cells or 2-3 Li-poly cells.

Cheers!

hehehhe...wait till u start flying, then u'll know how addictive flying is...
Once you're done with planes, you'll wanna start helis...and once u're into helis, you won't wanna go anywhere else. :D

Anyways, back to topic...how many of you guys have minizillas?
I've been thinking of brushless for so long liao....just dun have a BL esc that have reverse functions....and I want reverse for my Minizilla coz i wanna do wheelies & tumbles.... :L

aiya, thats why i letting it wait......cannot jump into everything.....

i have zilla, i wanna go brushless but i worry abt 1 thing, with this stock motor, it already not stable, topple once in a while, BL will be worse. unless i do something to the shocks, or lower the truck

yeah...i agree...not very stable on it's fast runs, especially cornerings....I dun wanna mount my BL motor up yet coz I still considering if I should get Firegarden's similar Mamba ESC....

Right now running 2-cell lipos on my stock minizilla setup, and it's excellent...full of power...my sustained amp draw is about 2amps, and surge is about 7amps...still pretty safe for the batts.

yeh, i also running on 2 cell. happy with everything just that its not fast enuff.....MA's anderson makan me flat even without brushless.....but if i dun do the handling of the minizilla, it will keep flipping with a BL and i am very lazy to walk to retrieve it

There are a few choices for BL ESC's, with reverse.

1. The Mamba ESC.

2. Align 25A BL Car ESC (http://www.align.com.tw/shop/product_info.php?cPath=22_73&products_id=742)

3. Quark 33A BL ESC (http://www.rcmart.com/catalog/product_info.php?cPath=421_36_51&products_id=12565)

How you measure amp draw for car? Supposed to do it on load right? Any on board measuring devices. Dun fancy running all over the place with the Zilla.... :L :L :L

So you got the MiniZilla. I say go for the Mamba ESC. I like it. The braking power quite good and it's an ease to configure/callibrate. But I really need to get a PCM RX for it. Then I can use my 3PK and get rid of all the glitching at 10m plus away. Very dangerous. Wait smash your car.

I ran the Mini-T again but not on fully charged battries. Lasted me about 15 mins but I didn't WOT most of the time. The road in front of my house is too narrow. I crashed about 3 times but the Mini-T survived. Already on 6 cells it's very hard to control I dunno how 2 lipos are going to be. This is my warning, trash your car at your own risk if you want to get the Mamba 6800. Maybe a lower rating would be better eg. the Mamba 5400. Anyway, hope to take it bashing this Sunday at TP.

Thanks for the options of ESC...but i think I'd very much prefer Castle Creation's Mamba leh...very comfortable with CC's reliability.

As for the speed, did you change the pinion to give it a try? Mine i put to the lower gear for more power instead of speed.....MT is suppose to have power....not speed anyways... :D

And for the onboard measurement, I am using the Watt's Up meter....

The BL esc are pretty prone to interference....i know it's a bit difficult coz the MiniT is small...but normally for our planes' installation, we move the ESC & motor away from the rx unit....

6Cells is 7.2v...2cell lipo is 7.4...so should be about the same in terms of total KV, but when using lipo, you might be able to have more power coz the lipos are capable to deliver more current than the small NiMH batts.

I think your Mamba 6800 is a bit too high for your MiniT lar....gear it down properly, otherwise better dun go into lipo yet. It'll kill your cells too fast if your setup is not properly configured.

I going to get one today. :ha: The kit. :hammer Some questions:

1. Where to get it cheapest?
2. Which ESC (if tuning for speed) to get?
3. Which servo to get?
4. AA rechargeables or batt pack? Which? (no Lipo, pls)
5. Which motor to get (for upgrade)?
6. I got Tx, so which Rx to get?
7. Anything else to make it better? Bearings? Shocks?

Thank you so much! :)
